I fully understand people pre-booking options, but really - if everyone just calmed the f*** down, and waited until after the draw, there'd obviously be a scramble, but all the flights and hotels would be at 'normal' prices and availability.

Thousands of Liverpool, West ham, Brighton and Rangers fans all researching and pre-booking the same 16 sets of flights and accommodation options constantly, is doing nobody at all any favours.
You mean you don't have Dublin locked in?!

Liverpool fans seemingly had Dublin booked out before the group stage draw was even made. I took a casual look a couple of weeks after the group draw and there was basically nothing left. IF they go out of the competition at any point, I suspect that most of the hotels in the city will suddenly become available again!

Without knowing the allocation, the points thing is a tad tricky.
Of course. But would just like confirmation of some sort that they will be running the pre-register interest system.

If I know they are, I’m more likely to book travel for certain trips because the tier 1 threshold will be at a lower points total as there will be (at a rough guess) around a hundred or so people on high points who won’t go to a European away game.

If they’re not going to do it, the tier 1 threshold will include those who have no intention of going so the points threshold will be higher, meaning I’d be more likely to be in a tier 2 scramble.

I don't reckon they'll have enough time to run a proper pre-reg for this one. Might be wrong though.

You've already said that you won't organise your travel until you have match tickets. Fair enough, that's your choice.

I intend to go anywhere we play, whatever allocation we get.

The cost of travel to Baku or Istanbul (or indeed Marseille as it did before) will go up by several hundred pounds in a few minutes once the draw is made.

I agree about Hotels - won't be a problem anywhere we play.

Luckily I have enough relatives (and friends of relatives) in and near Dublin, that a sofa to sleep on would be the easy part.

And in terms of travel, would be happy to drive if it came to it - my wife would be happy enough to go and stay with her sister for a day or three

Without going too deep, most people will decide on going once they know where they might be headed.

Very few flights will have been booked up before the draw as it's not very easy to do, on scale, in a way that guarantees refunds for unwanted trips.

As you say - accommodation can be done as and when, but in terms of getting a good option at a decent price, booking flights as soon as the draw happens is pretty key.

So, in terms of "pre-booking panic" I doubt much has actually happened. A few folk may have made multiple hotel bookings, but those rooms will become available again pretty quickly.

I really want to travel if we play in Hamburg. Quick question for anyone who might know: why are we only likely to get 2850 tickets? There were plenty of empty seats when Shakhtar Donetsk played Marseille last week. Would we get more if we requested them?

(I doubt they'll qualify anyway after only drawing the home leg)
I think we'd get loads more.

As you say, unlikely to happen

Yep, but that’s irrelevant to my point about wanting to know if the register interest system will be operating.

Lol easy for you to say as no worries travelling from Germany. I reckon I saved 6/700 by booking within 20 mins of draw for all 3 away games. And got convenient times.
You’re welcome to join the Black Forest Gateaux Express from Berlin to Freiburg.

I'm sure there is a post earlier in this thread that I read suggesting that pre registration will be used and is aimed to be operational on Friday afternoon. (Someone had a chat with someone in the ticket office). That's not official of course but certainly sounds plausible.
