Yeah I did delete my post, we are just going round in circles and there isn't much point.

As far as the aboriginal stuff goes I did some study years ago with a lecturer who spoke a great deal of sense. On of the things she said was that a lot of money has been wasted by politicians not listening to the elders. Not only has much of that moment been wasted it has made it worse by creating a dependency style culture.

Her suggestion, many years ago was to listen to what Aboriginal people wanted and needed rather than the politicians assuming they no best. This sounds a lot like a voice to me. A voice to understand how the aboriginal people want to live their lives, as I understand it this is very different to the way us westerners choose to live.

I see a government trying to right the wrongs of the past and starting to listen to what she and her people were calling for back then.

The only aboriginal voices I have heard against the vote are saying that it is not enough and will slow down their chosen path to treaty.

Seems like a decent compromise to me.

The no vote are throwing their usual decisive and unhelpful claptrap aboutm as you say you don't have an answer, so for me I'll vote for the people that are trying something.
yes mate , i think we are sort of agreeing , i have seen it with my own eyes and its not pretty , its actually sad and demoralising but i /we have our lives to live ....basically its f***ed , no amount of money will fix it ......we are now the one to come up with the solution .....what is that though..?? such a primitive culture , our diet is not good for them... carbs , sugar , alcohol....ffs....where do we go from here..?

Like flies round shit. Quiet day lads?
Hoping I’m not waking up a sleeping giant here:

Supreme Court rules today on the legality of the Pitel/Braverman Rwanda Deportation Plan

(‘Refoulement‘ = forcible return of refugees/asylum seekers to country where they will be subject to persecution)

The whole thing depresses me so much. I don't like the levels of economic migrants coming this way, I would like it to decrease and I don't have the answers. But the orgasmic delight of the people involved in trying to get more and more inhumane schemes sickens me.

What is your answer then? I mean, an answer that would actually work? You don't like the problem and you don't like the proposal to deal with it.

I have no problem whatever with economic migration -- as long as it's legal. I've been an economic migrant myself for much of my working life. Some countries (US and Australia) were too difficult to get a work/residency permit for, so I had to abandon those ideas. It never occurred to me to travel there anyway and present myself as an immigrant because I knew what they would do -- put me on a plane back to where I'd come from.

Immigration has increased under this government. The trade deal with India involved migration from India to Britain.

This is nothing to do with asylum seekers who have to get to British soil to apply for asylum. They are not illegal.
What is illega, is locking them up for months and months without processing their claims. Once processed approx 80% are granted asylum, and the others deported.

I didn't mention asylum seekers. I was responding to the poster who referred to economic migrants.

The Supreme Court has ruled the Rwanda scheme unlawful.
I suspect Braverman, being a KC, knew it would, deep down, hence the guff in her hissy fit of a 'just got sacked letter' about leaving the ECHR. That'll be the next far right 'divide and conquer' play I suspect. Imagine not wanting human rights

It’s exactly what she wanted. Part of her plan to scrap human rights.

Now she’ll lobby we leave the ECHR and the right will support her. They’ll support the scrapping of their own human rights.

Madness.

A KC who wasn’t ‘given’ silk so she could be made Attorney General. No wonder a decent Tory MP like Dominic Grieve was forced out.

The Tories see refugees as less than human.

This thread is entitled Stop the Boats. A Tory mantra whilst increasing economic migrants through trade deals.
it‘s hypocrisy.

To be fair, even Johnson was against Rwanda. He had to get something right, I suppose.

I can't help thinking that the far right, including the splendidly lovely Suella, wanted this verdict.

So to give you a spoiler for the next episode:

The right wing newspapers will now champion the frustrations of their darling girl.

Things start to go a little Trump as the courts are attacked, the new and disturbing strategy that has started to emerge in this country.

Much contact between the newspapers and Moggites.

A new battle line is drawn in the cultural wars and we move on.

Of course, most of us are pretty wise to know this was going to happen anyway. Even a dumb dullard like me forecast it after BREXIT. We are in for a pretty rotten political time for the next year and the wounded animal leaves the cage.

Most folk just want to hold down their jobs and feed their kids. But that doesn't make the best headlines. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching this weird battle every day that consumes our great nation and most of us aren't even involved.
