Here we go again. Leeds fans made the same claim when we were rejecting their bids for Ben White, Arsenal fans were saying the same when they were in for Caicedo. It’s nonsense.

Ben White, Dan Burn, Yves Bissouma, Marc Cucurella, Neal Maupay, Leandro Trossard, Alexis Mac Allister. Just some of the players allowed to leave in recent times, all joining bigger clubs. And yet we’ve replaced almost, possibly all, of these players with even better players, and players with even more potential. But players won't want to join us? Either way, Brighton won't be held to ransom over contract demands from players/agents, so if the deal isn't right we'll walk away.
Especially when you look at our recruitment in that time.

One of the issues for Moises appears to be that his agent makes Charlie Kane look like Mino Raiola. He wanted to move so his agent signed him up to a long contract with no release clause - and if we believe the press there was some kind of "gentleman's agreement" he would be allowed to move. Signing that contract was naive in the extreme.

As it stands though there seems to have been little in the way of noise from Moises camp in agitating for the move - aside from the usual minor social media rumblings. Given as you said he overcame his wanderlust in January may give Albion fans hope of him doing the same for the coming season.

Bloom is playing a somewhat dangerous game though as preventing an elite young player from moving on will set alarm bells off when signing future prospects. Agents and players will be aware of the Caicedo situation and in future may well be reticent to sign for Brighton, or at least ensure a suitable release fee and/or wage improvement is in the contract. The modus operandi has thus far been to acquire some of the best young talent under the promise of first team playing time and a big move. Are we seeing a seismic shift in Brighton's strategy, or is Bloom simply seeking to extract maximum value from this deal? I'd wager the latter.
Bloom has Europa League football to offer. Chelsea don’t. Bloom’s strategy hasn’t changed but the facts have. Caicedo had Arsenal after him in January so you can appreciate the prospect of playing for a club that finished below Palace would be a little underwhelming, hence the lack of fuss coming from his camp. It is much more likely now that they will be working on a move to a club equivalent to Arsenal..

WE AS Brighton fans have 110% faith in Tony bloom……could you say that you have the same in your owner Considering the apparent mess re transfers/managers over the last 12 months… I’m assuming your a Chelsea fan as all your small number of posts to date have revolved around two threads concerning Brighton/Chelsea…by all means correct me if i am wrong about the latter …I’m not about the former

Seriously doubt he'd be going to Arsenal now. I suppose Chelsea's blip last season might devalue them as a playing destination for some. However, given recent history, I'm sure most players would still find Chelsea Football Club an attractive destination. 5 European Trophies in a little over 10 year period is some record - and unrivalled amongst Premier League clubs.

I said a club equivalent to Arsenal. You know, one playing in Europe where Caicedo can actually showcase his ability this coming season with us. If your club want to do the deal though then they should go ahead. If not, then don’t. Tell me something though are you going to spend the next few weeks on here telling us how many trophies you have won and basically acting like a Leeds fan ? Any of us can recite you the Leeds toddler playbook to save you from the unexpected tantrums if you like.

With no shame about the trophies being funded by a sanctioned Russian, almost certainly with blood on his hands, either

They now seem to have some Beheader funding instead

Again this is something that Arsenal and Chelsea fans alike cling to.

The reality is that we are offering young gifted players a pathway to appear in the Premier League.
This is already a golden ticket for many of these players.

Chelsea have a track record of strangling young players careers by not offering a pathway to the first team and yet they still manage to recruit young players.

Our appeal is identifying talent, developing it and giving them a platform to progress their careers.
Plenty of young players will see that as appealing even if Moises doesn't play for Chelsea next season.

I appreciate that, Chelsea have been offering 8 year contracts so they can spread the cost on their accounts, that's been stopped.

The point still stands Bloom will want the majority of the fee upfront. It's something Naylor has stated regarding previous transfers out, Trossard and Mac Alister for example.
Yes the ability to spread a transfer fee over 8 years in the accounts has been stopped. It’s now a maximum of 5 years, even if the players contract is for longer.

But that makes no difference to how it’s actually paid to clubs. If we want all £100 million immediately or £50m now and then the other £50m over the next 4 years it’s still £100 million over 5 years on the accounts and in FFP terms.

I mean, yes. Obviously.

The club came out and said in January that Caicedo was not for sale at any price.

Then he signed a new contract with the club. It has come out via the agent that there is no release clause and it's also been stated that the Albion are willing to sell him for a suitable offer. They also have at no point this summer come out and said that he's not for sale.

So that's all we're waiting on now, the offer that the club find suitble. Then he'll be gone.

All Chelsea have to do is pay the right money. If they don't want to pay it then they need to move on and stop boring the arse off of everyone.

The other factor that you alluded to was Chelsea want to dodge FFP in the short term by paying over a stupid period and long contracts. A stop has been put to that and indeed Bloom will want a huge chunk upfront.

Your book is outdated
It's got nothing to do with FFP, it's more so we don't want to be seen getting taken advantage of and paying 100m for a player, who's simply not worth that fee in the clubs eyes.

That's it then, don't. Suits us fine.

Thanks for your input.

If you get him for £100m, in two years time when you sell him for double that to Real Madrid (*) it would seem like a bargain

(*) Or £300m to one of the Saudi teams.
You see mine and your valuation of Caicedo is very different, nobody else will offer the 100m we spent never mind 200m for his services in 2 years time
