I'm struggling to find the clip, but one of the sage members, Michael Tidsley I believe?, admitted they had no idea how care homes worked with workers going from site to site.

This was the doubled down in the mass sacking of those who didn't take the vaccine, none wanted to come back when everyone backtracked.

Having spent the last year (daily) with "care workers", I doubt it has much to do with the vaccine but everything to do with the indefensible way they are are employed.

Many of course suffered very badly with Covid due to their prolonged exposure and many (unlike most of what we consider to be essential services) wouldn't have been paid whilst sick.

Too soon, but it's been an eye opener to me. No, it's been life changing.

I'll be posting on here liberally about that profession in the future. A hidden army of chronically underpaid heroes who nobody ever banged a f***ing saucepan for.

Just wait for the enquiry we need can re-live Johnson's missed cobra meetings, super spreader events, masks denials, care home catastrophes. and more...

He was the worse PM to have at the worst time and we were so unprepared having used up all our oxygen with our self imposed, self harm Brexit tandrum...
Absolute biassed prejudiced rubbish! We all know you hated Brexit (as do most of NSC), but Covid, and the Government's handling of a crisis with no precedent has absolutelu nothing, zilch, zero to do with Brexit.
Would Corbyn have handled it better? - no.
Would Caroline Lucas have handled it better? - no.
Would the massed legions of non-racist, non-homophobic, non-xenophobic leavers have handled it better? - no.
Did the EU/Brussels/the rest of the world handle it better? - no - and don't come back with New Zealand and/or Australia as an example; being seperated by hundreds of miles of ocean from the rest of the world makes it a totally different ball game, a luxury the British government didn't have.

.....and yes, mistakes were made in dealing with Covid.

...the Government's handling of a crisis with no precedent

Except for it's handling of the leaving the EU and Johnson's spunk others people money down the drain attitude during his time as London Mayor, but do carry on.

Everything Boris touches turns to shit.

A Conservative Government obsessed with the EU (above everything else) and a bunglec*** PM will very much form the findings of the Inquiry.

I'd also personally blame a celebrity obsessed society that puts as much as care in selecting it's leader as it does voting for a dog to win Britain's Got Talent, but I doubt that will figure.

Whoever told you that Witchfinders have to be grammatical experts, or even vaguely literate? Pitchforks do not require spelling abiity to make them work .........................
If I'm reading between the lines correctly you remain a fan of Johnson, despite all the evidence presented?

There are plenty of countries that handled covid better than the uk, just look at the stats. Countries with far lower death rates and whose economies recovered to pre covid levels far quicker. But like, Brexit, you ignore all the evidence.

This is just Germany. The EU didn’t act as an entity, because every country in the EU has its own sovereignty.

FT on sage minutes on the delay and why

Minutes from March 13 noted that “SAGE was unanimous that measures seeking to completely suppress spread of Covid-19 will cause a second peak. SAGE advises that it is a near certainty that countries such as China, where heavy suppression is under way, will experience a second peak once measures are relaxed.” They also noted that while Singapore had had an effective contain phase new cases had since appeared.

10 days before lockdown - not talking out against mass gatherings.

On March 10, the group’s 14th meeting, it noted that SAGE believed “public gatherings pose a relatively low but not zero public risk. People are more likely to be infected by people they know, not strangers. But it acknowledged the importance of advice in this area and agreed to review it and to look at different types of gatherings/meetings.” SAGE was to reconsider the situation regarding public gatherings at its March 12 meeting. However, there are no minutes for a March 12 meeting provided. Nor does its 15th meeting on March 13 reference any

A member of sage - didn't have the full details

Asked during an interview on BBC TV what regrets he had about the handling of the outbreak, John Edmunds, a member of the government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), said: “We should have gone into lockdown earlier.”

“The data we were dealing with in the early part of March and our situational awareness was really quite poor so I think it would have been very hard to pull the trigger at that point"
could you take this somewhere else?

Personally, I think just about any competent politician could have handled COVID better than Johnson.
The clue is in the word competent,

This has to be the correct answer. He is not a very good leader at all. 600+ MPs would have done a much, much better job. That includes many who are right wing and Brexiteers.

Lucas/Corbyn would have done a much better job than Johnson, simply because, as others have said, Johnson’s judgement and ability to lead is catastrophic. I don’t know why people can’t see this? The evidence is so overwhelming.

Unbelievable.

They partied their way through all the lockdowns.

They fudged the care home procedures and killed thousands.

They gave PPE contracts to companies they knew couldn’t fulfil the orders. So their chums could profit.

They allowed profiteers to diddle the taxpayer out of billions of pounds of government aid.

They all deliberately broke the rules.

“let the bodies pile high”

None of this was done by accident.

But I may as well be talking to a puddle. If you still think they handled covid well, nothing will change your mind.

is there any evidence that anyone actually said, “let the bodies pile high”
