Yes, three days NOT the day before to notify someone by email, it really isn’t too much to ask.
Not everyone checks their emails on their phone, as I also mentioned these fans travelled on the Friday, luckily they saw the late email.

One of my sons had to collect his ticket from Brentford but he knew well in advance (not the day before) and it wasn’t a problem.
Why didn’t they do this for City, a game much further away and with a larger away section?

You carry on being bloody minded and thinking it’s fine for the club to announce by email for fans to collect another ticket 24 hours before kick off.
The set up at city was pretty easy to collect but I agree completely, think it was a bit disrespectful to do it the day before, don’t think it caught anyone out, it was just unnecessary, and felt a bit rushed. A friend had a problem with ID, where they wouldn’t accept an Irish passport, a bit silly. The BHAFC staff were great at city and thought it was absolutely ridiculous I had my Zambia flag taken off me.

Collecting the ticket isn’t the issue Dazzer, it’s being told to do it the day before the match.
It’s a very simple point……notifying fans a few days before the match would be good.
Why is it an issue? We know that the current protocols possibly include random ID checks so anyone going to an away game should have the sense to take ID. It doesn't matter whether it's the day before or 10 days before.

You would argue about the colour of orange juice.
You are either a bit thick, a club licker or on a wind up.
I’ve made my simple point and many others have said exactly the same, I have nothing more to add as you are boring me to sleep.

Before someone jumps in to say that 'everyone' checks their email on their phone, I don't! That's so some random company doesn't send me a message at 2am to tell me I have a discount or Amazon telling me my package is in transit. I would be exceptionally annoyed if I was travelling there & had that email, mainly because I wouldn't have known about it until I tried to get through the turnstiles & my ticket wouldn't scan as it'd been cancelled! 🤷‍♀️ A day before is just ridiculous!

And many others have agreed it's a mountain out of a mole hill, yet you seem to be the one getting abusive. I don't agree with everything the club do but I do on this as it pisses me off that some abuse the loyalty scheme at the expense of others.

emailing people a day before the game, is not helping anyone, no one wants to see the gaming of the system, but there is a glaringly obviously loophole for some people to continue to abuse it solely because they pay more for a season ticket, and the club seem completely unbothered that it devalues the whole argument they are making on abuse of the system, where as some people who are getting inconvenienced are our most loyal supporters by far. It affects me, as half of my friendship group did not have enough points for Brentford. It would be nice if the club, went, oh thanks for travelling 7 hours standing up, from Brighton to Manchester, here is a maybe something like shall we say a free pint, or a bit of appreciation, instead of “ID please“. Arsenal game next week, some people are doing stupidly complex combinations of transport through personal cost, to support the team. A token thank you gesture would be nice instead of being accused of gaming the system when people never have. I think this is peoples gripe, I think the club are good in general this isn’t some anti club propaganda, but I think this whole episode could have been solved with some better communication with regular away supporters. I think that’s what irked people.

Is there any provision for people who don't want to carry a driving licence or a passport to a football match, because they consider the risk of losing it to be greater than the risk of forgetting who they are?

My point is I dont really see it as a big deal whether it is one day or three. Worst case scenario for those that don't check their phones is that the ticket wont work at the turnstile and they then have to collect a replacement. I agree with you about it being wrong that 1901 members can circumvent this. I also think the club should have an away ticket exchange so if you can't go and the club are able to resell your ticket you can get a refund.

The only person on here or on Twitter that has taken the side of the club is you, I haven’t seen anyone else agreeing that they think the club is right to notify fans the day before the City game to collect a cancelled ticket.
(If you can provide any links I will be surprised, but also happy to say fair enough)

Just to be clear notifying fans well in advance to collect their tickets for the Brentford match wasn’t an issue for most fans, this has been mentioned by many.

If the club read the many complaints about the late notification they may think…oh we got this wrong, it’s fair to give a few days notice. But if they see comments from your type they may think….oh it’s fine.

Asking a random number to collect tickets/show ID isn’t accusing anyone of anything. It’s simply a control in place to discourage the gaming - you’re not being accused of speeding every time you drive past a mobile camera unit. Fact is the system has been gamed - and without the sampling the club have no idea who has been doing it.

100% need some form of exchange……plenty of genuine cases of people being unable to make games due to changes in plans, illness etc. Without one, the club are depriving loyal fans of using valid tickets - exactly the same thing they’re trying to stop !

Emails on phone. My laptop in the office was left screen up and on overnight by mistake and so it just checked and downloaded emails all night. When I went to check my phone this morning there were no emails because all had been downloaded to the laptop. I'm guessing many use the same system, imap on the phone and pop3 on a computer.

I agree an away exchange would be great. The technical challenge would be only opening it to people in the correct points band. That should be reasonably simple with any good software package though.

All the time there's the prospect of train strikes I actually think an exchange is an urgent necessity. I'm probably not going to bother with aways until the dispute is resolved.

Especially while there are ongoing train strikes. Lots of people having to change plans due to them.

Same here, this dispute is a logistical nightmare for away games

I have no problem with the random checks but I do have a problem with sending tickets via royal mail a few days before the game Currently I am waiting for my Wolves ticket to arrive so I don't know whether I have been selected at random or my ticket is in the post. The post here is very unpredictable as we only seem to get a delivery every three days or so.

Of course I will check with supporter services next week but it just adds unnecessary stress to my life which I don't need at the moment.

Well the mail is out of their hands i guess. But don't ever worry about tickets not arriving. The club will always sort you out on the day (if you have proof of purchase/ID- eg: all i've needed in the past was to show my confirmation email on my phone) and print out a replacement via the ticket office at Wolves. Its happened to me multiple times and been sorted on the day with minimal fuss and plenty of others will confirm this is the standard.

The point of the exchange though would be that you only get money back if the ticket is sold and of course the train strikes would apply to anyone who is looking to buy your ticket!!!
