Would have liked him but at the expense of each contract renewal we go through, and each £15m+ signing also wanting £80k a week and ruining us financially... no thanks.

If he doesn't fit into the wage structure then that's it. Unless you are the person financing the deficit, then I think it should be left with the club.

We're all too fond of telling the club what to do with someone else's money.

As for Edouard, he's played one match. Didn't Locadia score early doors ?

Sorry but that’s total nonsense, this is a fans football forum. I’m not telling the club what to do I am expressing an opinion. Stop being so precious this sort of debate is exactly what NSC was established for.

Nothing nonsense with that all.
The club is very protective of the wage structure hence why he’s not signed.

Folk can debate as much as they wish. I've just shoved in me own 'appenny worth.

I was referring to the fact he told me not to have an opinion because I don’t control that finances. That’s what nonsense on a fans forum.

Our wage structure is well understood in that Tony won’t break it for anyone, hence we didn’t sign the chap from Celtic. You repeating criticising the club for not signing a player because of it is tedious and a waste of effort. It’s the equivalent of you facing a blue wall and shouting ‘I don’t like blue’.

Indeed. A £30k-£40k payrise would have been demanded by player agents across the squad if we’d started paying a player (with no goals in a top league) £70k per week. Palace’s wage structure is a joke, I think Edouard will be top quality for Palace and really wanted him here but not at the expense of breaking our salary set-up.

I believe lallana’s basic is in line with Edouard’s salary, if not a little higher.

That’s what you get for 200 EPL appearances, an EPL winners medal and winning FA England Player of the Season (2016) etc.

Huge gamble to pay that sort of money to someone who has never scored in a top division but that’s what your club do. Looks like you’ve got lucky this time.

Today, against 10 men chasing the game, in the last 10 minutes of the game, with fresh legs, he looked a decent buy. I suspect he will have a decent enough season, but todays circumstances surely gave him a bit of an advantage. Connolly bagged two against the same opposition a while back, but has not been so prolific since.

Sure it’s only one game but anyone who has seen him play for Celtic in Europe knew he would score in the PL. It’s clearly not his fee that was the issue as we have paid more for other players.

I have read it was his wages but if we can’t meet the wage demands of a player from Celtic then let’s stop the top ten chat until we can progress our wage structure.

I know the usual staunch club defenders will be along to criticise this post but sometimes as a fan it’s so frustrating, he was a good option for us, he went to our arch rivals, we signed no one and in 20 minutes had scored as many as Connolly, the player most of us feel he should be replacing, managed in the whole of last season.

Lets see what he does the rest of the season before you get on your high horse

Very restrained Dougie, thought you might gloat a bit more! Mind you a half-decent striker would have got a hattrick against that load of crap ...

(Ignore the precious dears who can't tolerate a different view)
