Hi, I'm off to Prague next month and am staying in the Zizkov area - any one on here have any advice on good bars in the district rather than paying the higher prices in the centre on an evening?

I know Prague well if you drink in the side street bars, not the hotels u will have a great time, the women are gorgeous and very accomodating :drink:

Cheaper than here equivalent to bout 2quid a pint or cheaper
Blimey, in 4 years, either Prague has gone through a massive prosperity boom, or they saw you coming.
When I was last there, and if you kept out of the big tourist squares, you could half that a take a bit more off.

daveinprague might be able to help. If his advice is anywhere near as good as his reggae contributions on here then you won't go far wrong

Walk about during the day in the "old Town" part. It's really nice. The further you are away from the center the prices fall

Was there beginning of July, Cheapest pint I found was about £1.20! The beer out there is amazing, especially the tankove pivo!

Akropolis by tv Tower has a couple of bars and an indepedant music program and cheap restaraunt. Just down from there is Shotgun, best grass in Prague. Whether they sell to tourists in not sure. Bukowskis just round the corner is ok. If youre here for friday or sat, my and my girls bar in Smichov (over river from zizkov) for Ukranian party that several 'seagulls' have experienced. Everything is cheaper in Zizkov. Eat there as well. Give me a shout If you need anything

We went to the greatest bar ever, a couple of times prior to our last.
Off a square, down a side road, through a tiny courtyard, in the far right corner.
I'd say it could hold no more than 30 people.
Fabulous beer, dirt cheap, very hospitable, even though it was obviously 'just for locals'.
We were in there for hours.

I would tell you were it is, but for the love of God we have no idea, and have never been able to find it since.

We sell staropramen at 35kc but We are
a music club rather than bar, Zizkov is full of bars, supposedly more than any other urban center in Europe, but loads are half empty. Hapu does some of the best cocktails in the city (apparantly) i has beer there. Zizkov is scruffy but has a vibe Prague isnt Much bigger than Brighton and Hove anyway. Vinohrady Next to zizkov is more upmarket. Loads of bars and music clubs and many English and Americans live. It all depends what youre looking for music bars, boozers, women, etc. Its pretty Much all here. If you want really cheap beer, ive seen it as low as 7kc in supermarkets. I lived in zizkov for 4 years opp zizkov viktoria fc and wouldnt have moved If We havnt take bar in Smichov. Another bonus is the night tram travels thru zizkov so you never need a taxi who are poorly regarded even by Czechs.
