It's funny, but I agree with a sentiment that has come up a few times on this thread, i.e. Wardy was probably the 'best' player for Brighton, but Zamora may have the potential to go further.

This sounds like a contradiction, so I'll explain. There is no better sight in football than a player on a 'run' skipping past defender after defender before slotting it into the net, (or falling over for a penalty as has been said). Wardy, like George Best and Stanley Matthews, was excellent at slipping round donkeys in the (old) second and third divisions; however unlike Best and Matthews he did find it a lot harder doing it at the top level.

Zamora's game isn't based on the same skills. As has been said Ward was electrifying, magical almost week after week. Bobby was all-round 'good' with the odd breathtaking moment (Halifax, Bury away).

Close call, but I've still gone for Ward.

Being only 21, I never got to see Wardy in action. But I like to think I'm reasonably knowledgable about the Albion's history, and I've got to say I don't think Bobby reached his level. Wardy for me.
