A Zambian player is facing a police investigation after kicking a referee in the private parts after being sent off in a league match.
Police Doves striker Masuwa Chababa was angry with referee Fadzi Chipunza for dismissing him during a division two game against Police Tigers last weekend.
Chababa was red-carded for retaliating after he was brought down by an opponent as his team was trailing 1-0.
Chipunza's anger with the referee spilt over and he kicked him in the genitals to send the official crashing to the ground.
The referee was admitted to hospital after collapsing in agony for five minutes and was only brought round after receiving first-aid attention.
The match was abandoned following the incident.
Police spokesperson Brenda Muntemba said: "This is a court case and the court will decide. But as police we are still going to study the report."
Meanwhile the Football Association of Zambia's (Faz) disciplinary committee chairman Henry Sichembe said: "What happened is very, very unfortunate."
"Football is not kung fu and we shall not tolerate such behaviour.
"The disciplinary committee has taken up the matter immediately and we are waiting for a report from both teams before deciding the next course of action."
