[Football] Zach Clough Bolton -> Bristol City

Reasonable signing for them but not there player we need.

Is he any relation to THE Cloughs?!

Bizzarely, and after a rummage on the global interweb, I am none the wiser. Pretty sure he is not Nigel Clough's son and suspect that if he were related it would be all over the papers. Only mention I found was that of him having a famous "namesake" rather than being related.

Not disagreeing but where else do you look as most UK based strikers are a prohibitive price eg. Benik Afobe. or do you go for a known man to CH like Gary Hooper but what would he cost. or even Lucciano Becchio.?

It's tricky, like Vetokele as a player but just don't feel he's the answer to our striker problems. Ideally you'd find another hidden gem from abroad like Ulloa who can come in and make an instant impact but chances of that happening are slim, if not then a loan of a striker like Murray or Stokes until end of the season and then weigh up the situation and see if someone like Benjamin Moukandjo or Abdoulay Diaby are available.

Peter Crouch on loan then. Although he's been injured, wasn't figuring before that at Stoke. Scores goals and an aerial threat.

He is also 34 years old a la Bobby Zee. Presumably, also like Bobby, he won't be fit enough to play in every game.

May be two or three years ago l would have said yes, but it's a younger, fitter, quicker striker that we need. Hopefully we will be able to bag someone who fits this description before the end of the month.

Scoring record 1 in 3 for Bolton (16 in 47).

Didn't make it to Bristol.

Clough turned City down (like a lot of players in recent seasons). I suspect they may be a more attractive prospect this January, now they've more or less completed their stadium and things have improved on the pitch. Money was never an issue, as illustrated by their reported £8m bids previously for Dwight Gayle and Andre Gray.

We should absolutely be looking at him as a possible singing for minute 1 of the January transfer window.

Scored 2 penalties last night.

Doubt Bolton will let him go in Jan if they are within the promotion contenders. Their finances are now relatively sorted and they will want promotion at all costs. If they don't go up this season then I'm sure he will go. He's no Kayal replacement...plays No. 10 role. Certainly not a midfielder.

No doubt he's a great little player but he will really "ugly up" the team photo:lolol:

2 dare i say it very dodgy penalties he earnt.......

Ha......As a neutral, i'd say they were a couple of brutal assaults & can't understand why the Bury thugs didn't receive red cards. Maybe the FA or the police will take retrospective action.

( actually the first one was a long way away, i'm blind as a post & a smoke bomb thing had gone off, but i'm still convinced it was a penalty !)
