Your verdict on the footie so far.....

I have to say, no one has really impressed me for the whole 90 minutes so far.

In terms of entertainment our game with the French obviously rates as number one and the Dutch- German game must have been likewise for them.

Sweden put on a good show last night againgst an increasingly disheartened side.

The Czech struggled today, Latvia was absolutely knackered at the end and certainly looked like the minnows.

Portugal looked poor, Spain generally as per usual couldn't be arsed.

So far the Greeks have shown the most spirit and did impress.

We all know the first set of games are never a true reflection of the rest of the tournament but I think England can hold their own againgst most of these sides.

Only had half an eye on the Holland game tonight, but I thought the Sweden game last night was great value, even if the result was a bit out of line. Still, no dire, boring matches yet, so have to be pretty chuffed all in all. Am well nervous about Thursday now... :moo:

I thought Spain looked quite impressive, completely dominated their game and should have won far more handsomely. When you look at the depth of talent in their squa it really is frightening. Holland looked terrible, the Germans not a great deal better. The Czechs could be dangerous. Italy didn't impress me and we've yet to see what Sweden can do against proper defending. For the vast majority of our match we handled the French, I would probably say that based on the opening games that Spain, France and England look the best sides. Here's hoping....

None of the sides look that impressive. I wonder how much the heat is a factor? When we went to Portugal a few years ago at this time of year it was stifling

i think the only teams that have looked good are;
sweden
england
france
spain

and maybe germany or bulgaria (in 1st half).

the only shite game was croatia and switzerland.

The group games have been better than expected, there are normally a few dull 0-0 draws by now and we've just had the two. You can't judge Italy on that one game, they nearly always limp through the early stages.

We also had the shock of Greece beating Portugal, the hosts really have their work cut out now. I'm going to go and watch that game in a Spanish bar, bet there'll be a terrific atmosphere.

I think there's nothing in Croat or Swiss teams to frighten England.

It's too early to spot a winner but Germany looked a better side than their 20-1 warranted and I bet Sweden aren't 22-1 any more.

I'm happy with my money on the Czechs still (and my 2000th post....gulp).

The Latvians looked like a poor side in the second half, but that was probably because they were knackered after the Czechs pulled them apart all over the park in search of the goals that finally came. Nevertheless, how the hell did Turkey lose to that lot. Turkey must be crap!

I think the shock of the round is going to come in Sweden's group, where the Scandinavians will both pip the Italians.

I'm enjoying what I've seen so far, and the stadiums have pretty much all been full which is something we couldn't manage in Euro 96!

Spain looked pretty good I thought.
And I agree Simster, I think the Italians are in for a bit of a shock if they arent careful

I wish I'd put an each way bet on the Germans. They will not be far away. They should have won that game easily last night. Yet again they have been written off by everyone and yet when it comes to the big stage they are never far away. Holland are yet another team who are lesser than the sum of their parts.

The Germans looked quite capable of playing the Brighton way at International level until the fortuitous Dutch equaliser. I reckon the Germans remain a threat however lacklustre they may appear to be. The Dutch were total shite and looked like , to quote Schmeical "a team that don't like each other".

Everyone always expects the Dutch to be classy but remember they only qualified because they were playing Scotland in the playoffs :jester:

i thought

england
sweden
denmark
spain

looked the most impressive teams so far and thats no joke.

the danes did fantasticly well againsts the italians and well sweden were just clinical

spain looked more certain about them selves comopared to other years

and any team that can make the french look ordinary for the whole match have to be good so i feel we played very well.

Plus, I thought that was one of the best 0-0 draws I've seen in a while, could easily have been 3-2 either way. It only makes it more galling that we could lose tomorrow and go out having seen the rest of the opposition, none of whom scare me

We have a decent chance in this tournament, but you have to say that if we can't beat Switzerland in these circumstances then we won't deserve to win the tournament anyway.

I think we'll run out comfortable winners - 2-0 or something.

If you're English it is easier to get tickets for some of these games than the ones in England.

Plus in Portugal everyone can have a summer holiday and watch footie... utopia,

:lolol:
