The Promise by Bruce Springsteen is superb, one of his best albums IMHO.
It is recorded songs that were discarded for the Darkness album in 1978, when they were in conflict with his record company and onld doing live gigs.
Digitally remastered you can hear the youth and exuberance of a music legend and his band, just like being at a live gig in a local bar.

Just put together my end-of-year list last night, and it was really tricky trying to narrow it down to a final 20. Just made me realise how much of a vintage year this one has been for music.

In the end, my top five were:

1. Caribou - Swim
2. Beach House - Teen Dream
3. The National - High Violet
4. Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
5. Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles (II)

Im obviously in a minority, but I couldnt get on with the Hot Chip album. Never mind.

What I did think was a belter, was the Dan Le Sac / Scroobious Pip album though.
