The concept of ‘best eleven’ is incredibly outdated unless you are linking it to a certain fixture and the considering the multitude of factors a manager must ponder such as form, fatigue, opposition, formation, suspensions, up coming fixtures, home or away etc.
.

I know that, hence why it’s theoretical........interesting debate though. We’re not that far off a consensus it seems. God help us when Moder, Karbo and Caicedo settle in !

If we're playing with a lone striker (which most posters on here are) then I'd pick Andone above anyone else.

I think the other ten generally pick themselves - although you can argue about Veltman or Lamptey

The problem is, as Dazzer says, when Caicedo and the Polish lads are settled in

Theoretical of course, but was pondering what a possible starting lineup might look like if all of the squad are available for selection, and realised I couldn’t find a sensible answer without leaving out bloody good players, either on the bench or not involved at all (Moder, Karbo for example).

Some really tough calls........but something like this maybe ?

Sanchez
White Dunk Webster
Veltman Biss Lallana March
Ali Mac
Trossard Maupay

Bench

Steele
Lamptey
Alzate
Burn
Groß
Connolly
Welbeck

What would you do ?

Yes when all fit that is our strongest 11.

It is very interesting, agreed. And the future is just so fantastic as you say.

I can’t help but think that the club already have replacements for many of our best players with the ones you quote along with the likes of Roberts, Khadra, Rushworth, Molumby, Weir & Jenks. I can only see us signing the odd big name such as Welbeck or Lalllana on a free for the foreseeable future whilst selling the odd £50m+ player every few seasons or so.
