Yep. Killen was taken of because he was shit. He just went to hospital afterwards for a laugh.

'Oldham were shit. End of.'

Very good point and well put. Well done. However, the fact that you had a pretty much full strength team out, we had a weakened youth team out and you still needed a dodgy (there's a euphemism) penalty to win could also imply that you are shit.

As for the BBC report, don't make me laugh. The reports are written by people who don't go to the games. Amazingly, that report is identical to the one on ceefax, which is in turn identical to the one on teletext apart from the fact that Teletext claimed that the game was at Brighton and John Eyre 'handballed'. Don't bother reading them. They're a waste of time.

BTW, I was being SARCASTIC when I said that Albion were coasting all game.

I said that because im fed up with. Oldham were not shit but we could have upped the tempo had we need to - my opinion in a game of opinions.

Dodgy penalty.. get over it. Those sort of penalties are given all the time and debated every single season. It was given and we scored. If your team was good enough you would have taken the game to us and got back into it. You didn't. We scored with two set-pieces after that. If your defence could have coped with out set-pieces you may well have got a point. You couldn't. You wern't good enough and even if you blame the ref. I still say we could have raised our game.

Fair enough Turkey. You probably could have stepped up. Who knows?

As regards our defence, here is what I posted elsewhere on the board:

Picture this:

In the previous season, you have the second best defence in the entire Football League. However, in the summer a spiteful owner sells this entire back 3 (Clint Hill, Fitz Hall and Chris Armstrong) for a combined £500k - a pitiful amount. Another defender Julien Baudet joins Rotherham on a free transfer. This leaves the club with three defenders left over from the previous season. However, two of these (Dave Beharall and Dean Holden) are injured leaving Will Haining as the only defender left from the previous season. Danny Hall steps up from the youth team to play and a defender is signed on loan from Bolton on the night before the match. This leaves you with a defence of Haining, Kangana and Hall, two of whom have never played a first team match before. After 30 mins (and a dodgy penalty) Haining is stretchered off with his leg in a brace. This leaves only two (very inexperienced) defenders left. There is no-one capable of playing at the back on the bench, so Paul Murray (a central midfielder) is forced to play at right back and Rob Walker (a youth teamer making his debut at left wing back) is forced to play at left back with the team switching to a 4-4-2 formation.
A goal from Knight quickly follows.

Perhaps, having read that, you can see why the defence wasn't the best at defending set pieces. Perhaps, you should also be asking yourself why your team created so little against such an inexperienced and injury ravaged defence. I personally think that they did very well to limit Albion to so few chances.

Can you now see why we might just have struggled to get a hold on the game? I'm sure that if you'd lost 4 defenders from the previous season, plus another 3 through injury, with only one very inexperienced loan signing coming the other way you'd be rock solid at the back........... Or maybe not.

We played 5-3-2 and without an attacking player in the middle 3.

This to me says we went up there to get behind the ball and frustrate you. Why did we do this? It was quite obvious Oldham would be an unknown quantity. You were a good side last year. The troubles may have brought the squad together. Steve Coppell, imo, wanted to play it cautious and see what this new look Oldham side were all about. I think our defence delt with everything you had to give pretty well. We got the lead and from then on we didn't need to attack and risk conceding. So we didn't create many chances. The two set-plays we scored from were well rehersed and won the game. Steve Coppell won the game more than anyone else because he choose the right tactics. You have very good reasons to excuse your defence.. we're out to win a football match though and highlighted where you need to improve.

very hard to deal with:(

Well I'm a Seagull and I say the ref was a joke, Oldham were well worth a point, they were robbed. Brighton were not all that, and were very lucky to get away with any points at all. Lucky, jammy BHAFC, Oldham were dreadfully unlucky and we were gifted the goals by a blind mental ref.

I wasn't there though, so I'm just talking out of my (_!_) as well :O

Oldham were bad and we did what we had to do to beat them without really gelling in attack. We'll play better and lose this year.

I think Turkey is spot on there. Coppell has said before that he prefers playing 4-4-2 in Div 2, so yesterday was definitely a more defensive formation. The really pleasing aspect is that we still managed to win so comprehensively.

Expect to see 4-4-2 against QPR.

And Oldham lads, come on, have a bit of grace.

Anyone would think a ref had never made a bad decision before yesterday..

We won because we were the better team. End of. :)

The mark of any good team is that they can come back from going 1-0 down.

If you stopped whinging like a f***ing BITCH then I'd have no problem whatsoever, but come on, we won by TWO GOALS.

Putting your theory into practice, even if the ref hadn't given us a goal headstart, we'd still have won.

FFS, get over it.

I've got no problem getting over it. I've fully accepted that the referee was a twat. It just annoys me when people try to pretend that he had no effect on the game. Even Steve Coppell admitted that it changed the game in his posts match interview. You'd probably have won anyway, but we'll never know. As far as I'm concerned we were let down by a dickhead referee giving bullshit corners leading to bullshit penalties. A class A twat and don't pretend that you'd not be saying the same thing if it had happened to you.

We would be saying it, but not as often as you do. By now on NSC we would have changed the topic of conversation to 'Favourite Cheese', 'Worst Pie at an away ground' 'Fully shaved or Brazilian' and moaning about why the new shirts are not in the club shop until October.

Good luck to the Latics, we know what it is like to suffer too. If Prescott turns down the new stadium our club may cease to exist

Cripes, if these latics spent as much energy levelling their complaints towards the F.A., they might actually get the result overturned by simply BORING them into submission.
When BHAFC were losing the Goldstone and 'owned' by scum, I did write to them and I suppose they ignored me then. I wouldn't have thought of starting my rhetoric with "you really don't have a clue" even to them - although in that case I would've been spot on if I had.

At this point, most Brighton must be looking at the sorry Oldham whingers as bleating up the wrong tree - and a few lines to the FA would be my suggestion . Whatever, as long as the broken record gets binned .
It's time for a couple of losers to 'get a life' .

I've been away all weekend up in Nottingham, and have only just got round to reading about the game against Oldham

Great result

HOWEVER i am disappointed by the reaction by the 2 or 3 Oldham fans that have graced NSC this last week

Sour grapes or what?!!!

By coming on here and whinging, all they are doing is mugging themselves.......thankfully we won't hear from them again until Oldham visit "The" Withdean, but even that is too soon

Reeves and Rocky, do one, you are boring me and everyone else
