I would suggest that losing a baby son, can effect you life in lots of ways. Not surprised he has lost his way a bit over the last few years. A fully fired up Billy Sharp, with his mind fully focused on football, would be the better than any striker we have at the club atm.

If we're saying random players we'd like to go after mine is Dom Dywer from Sporting KC in the MLS. Sussex born lad who is smashing them in for Kansas at the minute. Wants to play for England one day and that'll only happen if he moves back to England and we could offer him a chance to do that. It won't happen but still....

We could do a hell of a lot worse than Sharp thats for sure , the piss taking of him over his lazurian recovery is human nature and i cant imagine he holds a grudge against Dunky or anybody else after what he went through last season , i would be more than happy seeing him line up on saturday .

But if we were to sign him don't you think this would just be a desperation / reactionary signing. If we had really wanted him, wouldn't we have tried to sign him 2 months ago. Agreed a few years ago a fully fit Billy Sharp would have been worth a punt, but his game has gone right off the boil (understandably so) and I for one hope that the club have slightly higher profile forwards they are chasing. Sorry just my view.

You make a valid point and in fairness he would not be my 1st choice if it were up to me , but we need more than we have right now and in these circumstances i would take him desperate or not , i cant quite get my head round some of the players we have let slip by so far this window one that hacked me right off was Ishmael Miller Joining Blackpool on a bloody free , quite liked him and one definately worth a look at .

How many chances, did we not put away last season ?IMO Sharp ,has a good scoring record and i would try and get him on loan, rather than say Mason, sending Fenelon out on loan at the same time.

Yeah - I don't disagree with you re : Miller. Makes me wonder whether the striker that will be brought in may be someone from abroad (a bit like the Ulloa deal - a bit left field)? Or if not I suspect it may end up being a premiership reserve striker (personally I would like to still see Bechhio or Vaz Te as I don't think either will get many 1st team chances this season at their respective clubs.

I see sharp just retweeted an article saying he could be the shrewdest move of the summer for Brighton (or Leeds)

Edit - leeds it is.

Great goalscorer at this level, who has just slipped off the radar a little. Whoever gets him could have a real surprise package on there hands. Could just be the bargain we are looking for, in today's market he would have easy been £5m+ on his form, from just a couple of years ago, still only 28 so plenty of miles on the clock.

It appears that Koeman does not want him around and will let him go on a free. He is reported to be on stiff wages (which is why he is not in a hurry to leave the employ of Saints) but he is a still a cracking good championship-level striker. With the wonga you got for Ullojah you should be able to afford his wages for a season until his contract expires at SFC.

Good striker...

We are being linked by various media outlets, who probably read your post...
