I've not been there so maybe it's a really nice destination. But if even a hotel in Bolton makes that much money, one in Brighton would seriously clean up.

What was our budget last year and how is it compared with other clubs? What you're really suggesting is that we need to spend more? Which seems typical of your character.

Unless I am being stupid (which is quite possible) aren't our media figures pretty similar to everyone else including Leeds?
In fact if you take out parachute payments we have the biggest revenue apart from Leeds. All meaningless of course without knowing what our costs are as well.

I seem to recall in another thread he is ( quite rightly ) getting £1 million per year by renting the Amex to the club. So he is getting a small return on his investment.

Have you considered reading the annual accounts? That tells you the revenue and expenditure like a maths book. Wages are the largest expenditure. But to be competitive and try and get to the premier league, you need to cut back elsewhere (That's how finance works you see, live within your means). So whilst you criticise Barber et al, perhaps you need to get your head into the annual accounts and actually read and learn something. Rather "thumbs downing" everything to questions your integrity, and perhaps will stop you going on about Barber.
I find it hilarious for someone so anti-capitalist seems determined to get us recklessly spending to get to the premier league. But then again, isn't that how socialism works? Spend it all now and hope you achieve greatness in the future?

Take away the parachute payments and Burnley are 2nd from bottom. Tells you how much Prem money skews the Championship.
If there is a rent paid, its to the Amex stadium limited company within the group, and not to TB personally. In effect not a cost to an external third party and purely an accounting adjustment.
Regarding the turnover graphic, it needs to be in the context of costs, which in the same graphical format for us would be far to the right. And the resulting losses are not met by a bank but borrowed from TB, who has already bankrolled most of the losses of the Withdean era, 3 years of huge losses at the Amex, the Amex and Lancing infrastructure/facilities capital costs.
To go that extra half mile as someone suggests of TB pumping in even more of his cash to get us to the PL, is flawed, because it's against mandatory FFP rules and there is no guarantee of getting there (just look at QPR, Blackburn and Forest).

Football's finances are so unfair.
I was looking at the previous winners of the Champions League/European Cup earlier.
Within the last 35 years team like Aston Villa, Steau Bucharest, Nottingham Forest, PSV and Red Star Belgrade have won it.
Due to the inequalities in revenues clubs like this can never win it again.
Even huge clubs like Dortmund and Porto are very unlikely to win it.
38 years ago my team, QPR, were one point away from winning the Championship.
Blackburn, Forest, Villa, Newcastle, Ipswich and Watford have either won or come second in the title race within the last 40 years.
Never again.
Basically football as a competitive sport is ruined. Only maybe 8 teams can win the Champions League and just 4 or 5 can win the English Premier League
It's a crying shame.

No he isn't. The accounts for the Stadium Company, and the club, roll up into B&HA Holdings, which made a loss of £15.2 million for season 2012-13. Far from taking any money out of the club, Tony is funding the sizeable losses every year, on top of the expenditure on the training ground (to go along with the expenditure on the Amex construction).
A lot of what you say there is spot on. I've said for years that generally teams who pay more in transfers and wages averaged over a period, win more games and trophies - simply as they acquire better players and a larger squad of those better players. So when the media praise Mourinho at Chelsea or Real Madrid, or the club PSG, they have got much of their success by spending £100m's on squads to squash the opposition .... NOT through the incredible coaching and management of relatively meagre resources, or great scouting network.
At Championship level, despite having lower crowds than the Albion and no parachute monies, the Leicester squad is relatively star studded, as is Forest's.
It's still great though when a club that haven't got the largest player payroll, gets amongst the biggest payers. Rodgers, Martinez and Dyche have each done that this season, Swansea have for a few years now, demonstrating hope to other clubs at various levels.
Which is the reason why Palace fans wouldn't mind THAT much if we get relegated, we'd still be in a far better situation than 2 years ago overall.
They say it's justified the amount that a relegated club receives, that just shows the vast amounts of overspending that occur at PL level.
