Marcus Trescothick has been dropped for the first time in his international career as England made two changes for the fourth match of the NatWest Series against Pakistan.

The Somerset left-hander was overlooked for the day-night match at Trent Bridge just 48 hours after announcing he would be unavailable for next month's Champions Trophy tournament because of a stress-related illness.

After considering the situation for two days, the selectors decided to leave Trescothick out of their line-up to look at other options for the Champions Trophy and have handed Middlesex batsman Ed Joyce his second one-day international appearance.

Surrey all-rounder Rikki Clarke has also been dropped to make way for Sussex's Michael Yardy, who becomes the eighth player to make their one-day international debut for England this summer.

But Durham seamer Graham Onions, called into the squad on Sunday following Darren Gough's withdrawal with a shin injury, was again overlooked and must wait for his debut.

Instead England kept faith with a seam attack featuring Sajid 'SHIT' Mahmood, Jon Lewis and youngster Stuart Broad as they attempt to claim their first victory in the last 11 limited overs matches.

Surrey all-rounder Rikki 'The Goof' Clarke has also been dropped for personal reasons to make way for Sussex's Michael Yardy. 'Goof' has been called to Brighton to console fellow CLOWN Mark McGhee after the latter was sacked as manager of Brighton and Hove Albion.
