Unbelievable. So now we have to pay for their prison sentence.

Why the f*ck were they allowed in this country in the first place, and why are they not being deported?

Putting their nationalities aside, like other prisoners they will get clean lodgings, three squares a day, pocket money, access to recreational and educational facilities.
The frail and elderly will get to pay up to a grand a week for an institution smelling of p#ss with a possibility of toilet paper rationing.
Somehow, somewhere we go our priorities wrong.

So if we implement the views being posted and ban any one with a criminal record leaving their own country it would make European football fun. No terry for chelsea tonight Munich as he failed to get a visa.

The whole concept of the EU from the treaty of Rome is the free movement of goods and services which includes the populous

Then how about we run checks before they even come here, they apply to live and work in the UK, like we do for people coming from outside the EU.

That's fine, so long as you don't mind having to apply for visas and undergo criminal record checks in return (at your own expense, of course) whenever you feel like popping over to the Algarve or the Costa del Sol for a few days in the sunshine.

alternatively operate a visa waiver system with the countries you want to and in conjunction run an effective and working border control where everyone is checked in and out and the worst case criminals are flagged and assessed as to whether or not they are a risk to the public

Over a million Poles have come here to work and are law abiding. Don't 4 scumbags colour your opinion of EU workers. As has been stated there was an agreement that criminals would serve their sentences back in their original country, but for some reason our government isn't enforcing that. There are plenty of British criminals living it up in Spain.

25% of the UK population have a criminal record too apparently. Should be a nice little earner for someone and a great boon to the UK tourist trade. :lolol:

You don't want to make it too hard to come to the UK - yes, you may deter the odd criminal but you can also put off hundreds (thousands?) of legitimate ones. Notters has it spot on ...

I'm not convinced that sorting people who are willing to put a small bit of effort into being given permission to enter the country and those who are willing to put none (the thousands you talk of) would be such a bad thing?

Pretty sure Britain had exported its fair share of criminals as much as imported.
