Would we have Stayed up?

McGhee has said all season that we needed a striker in the mould of GNW to make us a team. Since we've had him we've only lost 1 in 6. Does this justify our poor record this season.

So would we have stayed up if we had had GNW up-front all season?

a win against Wednesday then take the spirit on to the last two against teams going through the end of season motions. Win those and couple that with Wednesday not getting a win in each of their last games (Reading, Derby) and we stay up (OK if Sheff get 2 draws we need to have made up a few goals but hopefully we can take care of that tomorrow).

I think yes. Whatever the faults and inexperience of the squad, the frustrating thing about this season for me has been that generally, we are not that bad. Certainly good enough good enough to hold a place in a Champinship league which has some pretty average teams.All season we have been short of a striker (probably a big one) who could score goals and mix things up a bit to allow others to take advantage and score. GNW could have been that striker.

Definitely. It would only have taken half a dozen more goals and we would have been safe by know.

Looking back to the other game in East Anglia, if we had scored in the first half against a poor Norwich side, we would have taken the points, the same at Stoke

More importanly look at Sheff Wed how they have progressed since they bought in two strikers on loan in January. All they have to do is avoid defeat on Monday and they are safe made possible by the goals of Tudgay and Burton.

If we had got one in September when he first realised that we needed oa striker then the answer is obviously yes we wouldbe in midtable and not in the same position as we are now.

Yes diffinitely, I said all season long if we don't find a striker we're going to be doomed, I'm glad we've got GNW but I think we've got him to late. IMO.

We would probably be mid-table if we got GNW at the start of the season.

It was obvious to EVERYBODY that we needed a striker way back in September but it appears that all we did was chase after one and unfortunately neither you nor I know how realistic our approaches or offers were.

Sheff Wed earmarked strikers and then the moment the transfer window opened jumped in and got them ON LOAN not bought them what did we do wait until mid March to do exactly the same.

By which time it was too little too late although it was possible to have worked it it hadn 't been for a gutless performance by the team against Southampton.

I am sure that we earmarked strikers ourselves. It is much easier for a club like Sheff Wed.

1) Higher turnover, higher chance of being able to afford the wages.

2) Better facilities.

3) Well placed in the country, rather than being down of the south coast, which limits the players we could get in.
