We play in a 7,000 seater athletics stadium.

Could be a 9k seater with a bit more effort

Can't we have a park and ride at Toad's Hole Valley? The access there must be amazing to be considered a possible site!

I couldn't agree more. The problem with talking about Knight on here is that it'a always black and white, a polarised 'debate'. He's either Moses, or a tight-fisted charlatan.

Despite his many heroic achievements (and the biggest one hopefully is yet to come) I've always believed that his inability to get some money in is an acute failure.

I don't buy this 'there's no one out there with money that we could trust'. It's a hugely prosperous part of the country, the money is there. It's Knight. He loves the kudos of being chairman, the main man, and won't let go or dilute his influence.

Friends of mine who have nothing to do with the Albion have said 'I've heard your chairman on the radio again, he loves the sound of his own voice, doesn't he?' Clearly he has to be keeping Falmer on the radar, but he milks it.

Knight is not a mega-rich individual, no problem with that as he's a good leader. But the correct judgment from such a leader would be to bring in some money. Even if Falmer gets the green light, it'll be three years - and the ticket prices vs facilities, and lack of money to invest in the team issues are at breaking point.

Exactly my sentiments

I'm not in the Ernest/FG "DK is a ****" club, but I think he has been ineffective (apart from buttering up Norman Cook to pay for Leon's £7k a week wages) in bringing in new investment

And no, I don't know of anyone who could replace him, but I was told last summer by a club coach (who told me the "Brooker to Leicester" story, so he is genuine!) that there is an individual who wants to invest in the club, but he wants DK's percentage of club ownership, which DK is not prepared to give up

I thought that Arsenal agreed to farm out some of their youngsters AFTER a few weeks of the season. Wasnt that the purpose of the 'behind closed doors' friendly?

Perhaps DK is waiting for this to materialise?

Or have I got it wrong?

Leon Knight is NOT on 7k a week, absolutely no way. Nobody is.

Does anybody not think that if we could pay for somebody that was out there we would have done? A lot of this is discussion is based around the assumption that there is a proven goalscorer out there, that we could pay 200,000 for, but nobody is prepared to dig in their pockets to pay for it. I challenge anybody to come up with that player and tell DK or MM about them, and see if that player is available.

Yes it would be handy to have a chairman that has a few quid to throw about on the team, but we don't, and all the while we play at Withdean we are unlikely to. Personally, I'd rather have a fan at the helm who is trying to do the right thing, rather than have a power-hungry loud mouth who is quite happy to upset the status quo for the sheer hell of it (Mandaric).

Like or not, we have to accept things the way they are for the time-being, and even though the top of this thread asked us not to say it, our future does depend on Falmer, so what would be the point of paying 200,000 for a player when it may not matter anyway?

2000 extra seats
= £40,000 per home game x 23 home games
= the best part of a million quid extra we could have had available this season

Even allowing for all the deductions, that would still have left a big chunk of money that could have been spent on wages

Erm, why not?

Bobby was, near enough

Why do you think he came to us and not QPR?

If he is on that money, good luck to him, he did so much to get us promoted last season

Must be behind the times here. Behind closed doors friendly? When was that? If this is true we could get some decent midfielders. I hate to say it but the last game I saw the legend Gary Hart play he looked poor and unft. Jarrett on the left, Chippy and Nicolas in the centre with a newby on the right and maybe a couple of extras in reserve, sounds good to me.

:)
