Well I've lived here for two and a half years and although I agree it's not the most dynamic place in the world I've also lived in plenty of worse places. Granted I don't tend to socialise in Worthing much so can't really comment of some of the remarks here.

However, slag it off if you want to but I suggest you try living in a few other towns in this country to try and make for an objective as against objectional opinion.

It indeed does still smell of seaweed and its a lovely aroma when you walk along the prom. What of course us Worthing folk miss out on when we go for our seaside stroll is the many hyperdermic syringes you see so often in the shelters of Brighton and Hove. My kids used to love to collect them when they were toddlers and play with them.
I take you will be spending your Saturdays at Woodside Road in future then instead of having to venture to the dump that is Brighton and Hove...........jump off the bandwagon.

I don't think Worthing has gone too far down hill. It's one of those places that you just don't realise how bad it is till you move out and then go back and visit!!

You may be right used to meet a mate occasionally in the Downviewnext to West Worthing station on the way into town , that was always a bit of a dump

I think that this is an argument you can use for the country in general.

Last week I played golf at the Belfrey and on the Saturday night, we went into Birmingham, down Broad Street......pubs, clubs, strip joints, "gentlemens clubs", burger vans and loads of chavs, pissed up women wearing next to nothing and coppers - loads of em.

Where ever you go in the UK, you will find chavs as it appears to be the thing to aspire to.

In this bar we went to, it was really strange to see that the Asian blokes and women were all together, the whities all together and a couple of black groups that everyone was giving a wide berth. the next couple of bars we went in it was the same...there was no menace or aggro, it was just so strange to see it.

This asian woman got chatting and she said that in Birmingham an Asian girl being seen with a black guy was something dangerous to both of them! It is something we do not really experience in the South.

Well maybe your opinion Dwayne but as I say, I can think of plenty of worse places that have been inflicted on me, persoanlly I thought Leeds was one of the biggest dumps in the country but there again I've met more than a few people who really rate the place. I have to say that passing through there on the way back from Oldham I was talking to a bunch of clubbers (many female) who were hardly wearing a stitch despite the biting cold and they were very friendly and also asking all about Brighton.

Still I also lived in South Norwood for a while and that was a dump to beat all dumps !

It's a question of perception maybe ?

Still is (I live just up the road). Been in there once and that was probably once too often ! Still I rarely go in pubs now as I don't drink anymore.

I would say just from what you see round and about i rarely see white lads with black girls but quite often see white girls with black guys. Very rarely see asain lads or girls mix full stop.

Very odd.

I probably notice it because i don't tend to get out and about in Worthing anymopre all through school and college i thought Worthing was pretty good place to grow upp, safe, little hassle, even nights out were good. Moved to Lewes though and found probably also i wa sgetting older suited me more traditional pubs and little of the chain pub revolution had hit it. Huddersfield now seems pretty much ok more of an ethnic mix but i don't think that is a bad thing. But there are a couple of god damn awful areas up here luckily i don't have to venture near them that make west durrington or East worthing look positiviley nice.

What a peculiar thing to post I am pointing out that one cannot come on here championing Brighton and Hove Albion in one breath and then slag off Brighton and Hove in the other.........stick to your own kind.

Birmingham is a cool night out. It's also the most multi cultural place outside of London in my experience.

Worthing is shit, no entertainment, its populated by chavs and old people as are many towns along the coast.

And there speaks the voice of authority, no old people or chavs where you live then.
