That Sun Bear looks fantastic - extra points for being the World's Smallest Bear but being well up for having a go. That's what being hard is all about. Some of his poses are superb too.

WHC STAT ALERT

The Sun Bear performed poorly in it's first round group in 2014, garnering only 4 votes and finishing third bottom. It only beat the Mosquito and the Moose, the group winner being the Grasshopper Mouse.

The Sun bear took that early defeat on the chin, went away and worked on his game.

I have a feeling his time in the 'Sun' has come.

Nominate Sperm Whale, big bruiser, makes the Elephant looks like a tiddler and attacks ships full of hunters.

And Golden Eagles for killing Wolves and Reindeer.

Interesting to see the Greater Grison struggling so much to find any love, considering it is the Honey Badger's ripped South American cousin (and therefore harder and scarier by definition).

I'll second it out of pity.

The Sloth Bear of Mysore
Sloth bear (Ursus ursinus)

Sloth bear (Ursus ursinus)

As far as bears go the sloth bear definitely doesn’t look the scariest. In fact it looks slightly comical with its crazy hair and funny walk. But don’t be deceived, the sloth bear is one of the most feared animals in Asia. It is said that tigers will go out of their way to avoid them and rhinos have a pathological dislike of them. This is all for a good reason – sloth bears can be very nasty.

With poor eyesight and not being able to run or climb their way out of danger the sloth bear will react to threats aggressively. They are much smaller than brown bears, weighing in the region of 300lbs (140kg) and feed almost exclusively on insects – termites in particular. To dig out termites sloth bears have developed enormous, sickle shaped claws and it is these which it uses to devastating effect when attacking.

Whilst there are numerous reports of sloth bear attacks, often resulting in horrific injury or death, the case of the Sloth Bear of Mysore was particularly disturbing for two reasons. Firstly the fact the bear attacked and killed so many people. During 1957, in the southern Indian state of Mysore, this one bear was alleged to have killed 12 people and seriously injured dozens more. In addition some of the victims were said to have been part-eaten. This suggests a bear that was going out of its way to prey on humans.

If you’re going to be attacked by any animal the sloth bear is probably the last you’d want it to be. They can be pretty vicious and make a real mess with those scythe like claws and teeth. But the worst thing is they go for the face. It is no exaggeration to say sloth bears rip their victims faces off with eyes, lips and noses often lost in attacks. And that is your regular sloth bear; in the case of the Mysore sloth bear we are talking about a bear with a vendetta.

Second the seagull - get it in.

Tiz the proper seagull Larus marinus (not the ones you get in Torquay)

The largest of the gulls, the great black-backed gull (Larus marinus) is a dominating predator that has been described as a “merciless tyrant” due to its aggressive feeding habits. This powerful bird has a thick-set body with a large, yellow, red-tipped bill, strong legs and wide, webbed feet, which have a delicate pink hue. The breast and head are snowy white and sit in stark contrast to the black back and wings.

Sperm whales have strong conical (cone-shaped) teeth on their lower jaw and only remnants of teeth in the upper jaw. The largest teeth are 11 inches long! That's about as long as an adult human's forearm. Can you imagine? One tooth from the mouth of this massive creature is as big as your arm. Do you think he could eat you? It's not likely you'll find yourself being eaten by a sperm whale, they don't eat people. Their favorite food is giant and colossal squid.

They also feed on other creatures, such as octopus and fish. But sperm whales have been the stuff of legends because of their massive size and predatory nature and because of the telltale markings left on their bodies by the giant squid they stalk and hunt in the great ocean depths. Scientists have recovered huge beaks from the stomachs of sperm whales that came from colossal squid that were bigger than any specimen ever captured by humans, dead or alive. These discoveries beg the question, "Just how big can a colossal squid get?"

This great ocean carnivore has been known to eat another great ocean carnivore - the great white shark! So the sperm whale really is the baddest of them all!

Needs to be seconded, the Great Sperm Whale
