is it really offside in the true spirit of the game? whatever happened to 1st phase 2nd phase of play?
Yes he came from an offside position to challenge the ball, it went directly forwards from where the goal was then scored. The only discussion should have been the lino should have flagged straight away as that point it wasn’t leading to goal but was obviously offside.

Lovely interplay, what a goal. The best team today, all the Swiss have offered is a high press, set pieces and Embolo hold up play.
Agree second half they have taken playing the ball into space to a new level, normally there’s not a Swiss player within 15 yards.

Brazil to score 2.5+ goals at 3.25 feels like free money, but we'll see. The Swiss are traditionally good at defending. Really struggle to see anything but a Brazil win however.

How's that free money coming along?

That’s often the way other than in 94 and 02. Efficient, defensively mean European teams winning the big prize.

But I love the skillset of these Brazilian players. The ball control, playing out of obscenely tight spaces, is a joy to watch.
Unlike all the other favourites, this Brazil team haven't yet conceded. They're defensively mean too.

They've got the famed finesse and flair in attack, but also a tough spine in Casemiro, Thiago Silva / Marquinhos and Alisson.

They'll be hard to score against, let alone beat.

What a bench too. Jesus et al. Seemed better team play once Richarlison was withdrawn.

Still nothing compared to the team of 2002 with the 3 R's

When the bloke with the rainbow flag ran on the pitch, did the sounds from the commentators get removed/distorted for about 10 seconds over there as well? Happened on the Swedish commentary... found it odd.

Please please please can VAR do one thing that'll make us all rejoice today? Please just for once find a way to rule that Ronaldo's adam's apple if offside!

Do appreciate the Portuguese, though, for their 'Santa's-little-elves' kit, reminding us that Christmas is coming!

Dubious goals panel that one, will need exact speed measurements and angles to decide if he did…. It’s like snicko in cricket :lolol:
