Anyone else suffer from this whenever i've been in a particular job about 2 years i seem to become utterly sick of it, finding it a right old effort to make it in each day. this normally results in a b0llocking for my lazyness then i seem to get back into it. Why?

I definitely suffer this, too.

In my career, I think I've only got through it without changing jobs on 2 occasions. One of them was due to the early 90s recession, when I just couldn't get another job so sat it out.

I've been at my job for three years. I was stuck in a rut like you. Hated the job, found it boring and repetitive and as my morale went down my work rate and effort plummeted. I had no job satisfaction and I just didn't want to be there, so I didn't care about not putting in the effort (my employer didn't really care that much either, so that didn't help).

Tried for at least a year trying to get out. Went to several interviews but had no luck and thought I was going to be stuck in this shite job forever. Finally got offered a job elsewhere about four weeks ago. Today was my last day here and on Monday I start a new position.

My advice is to be persistent and make the effort to apply for jobs elsewhere. Because staying in the same job that you don't like will just make you feel worse over time, it won't get better.

Please to read this as I suffer from it no matter what job i`m in. Maybe it`s the general routine that gets boring not so much the place or who you work for.

It's the day to day routine of it i reckon somedays i'm sure the work or people i'm dealing with are no worse than before but, my god do they sometimes seem to p1ss me off.

Spot on 18 months - 2 years is enough in the same role. It is ok to remain at the same company as long as the job eveolves or there is room for progression.

I left my job 5 weeks back (voluntary redundancy), having worked for the comapny for 7 years. My problem was having been stuck in the same 1 for the past 3 years and had got to the stage where I despised it. In the end I was paid to eave a job I hate. I have never been so happy.

I've just given up a job in London after 6 years of working 12 hour shifts in the trendy 'media'. I'm starting my own business with a friend of mine who was also doing the same hours as me in town. It was becoming increasingly difficult to hammer my body with the nights and long hours, I completly lost interest and now at the age of 35 I've got new horizons to look forward to.

My advice, come up with an alternative idea, (preferably working for yourself) and one that you know could bring in a minimum amount of money you need to live on for the short term and just leave. A really good way of making some money short term is to get onto Ebay with a really good idea, I made £1000 in 3 months just selling CD's and DVD's. Money is there to be made if you come up with an original idea.

I usually manage to last for 4 years, but I'm jumping ship 6 months early on this occasion.

My last day is tomorrow and then I have 5 weeks off before starting my new job :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Ebay sounds like a real money-spinner for anybody with a PC. Especially if you're based in Brighton. Just an extension really of the wise guys that trawl the charity shops in London Road and Western Road every day, buying up all the retro/designer gear for one pound fifty pee and flogging it on to shiny happy people in the North Laine at five hundred percent profit. Brighton's awash with junk that would turn a tidy sum on Ebay. Get in there!

I've been in various jobs at my company for ten years and am beginning to really hate it.

I didn't even get a thanks for the service.

When I started out I listened and learned from those around me and from that built up a lot of experience. Never questioned anything I didn't know about, never claimed to know something I knew nothing about or hadn't encountered.

Now I am in a similiar position to those I looked up to, but unfortunately I am constantly being treated with complete disrespect from "youngsters" who quite frankly don't know their arse from their elbow.

They quite frankly "believe their job titles"

I spend a lot of my time now just reacting to other peoples bad planning and mistakes. When you give advice you are treated as being a bit "old school" and I'm in my mid 30s !

These people don't want a long considered answer to anything. They deal in "bullet points" - not because they want to deal with a lot of information quickly, but because they haven't got the interlect or experience to deal with anything in any great depth.

Time for a move I think.
