My brother bought some chips with curry sauce at the Withdean for the Blackpool game.

It was quite possibly the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted at a football match.....

(apart from a spring roll that gave me food poisoning (fact) in Leyton after a Brighton Orient game )

For some light relief (if the coppell saga isn't sorted today), please feel free to post some Withdean culinary reviews.

The few times I have felt brave enough (for 'brave' read 'drunk') to join those queues at half time, I've actually come away quite pleased with what I got. Granted, everything is grossly over priced (but who would expect anything less?). A slice of rubber cheese? That'll be an extra 50 pence please! But the burgers I've had, while pretty basic, did the job and didn't taste too bad. They're certainly nowt special though. As I say, I'm normally pretty well inebriated before I tuck in, so it's probably not a fair reflection on how good the scram actually is!

I particularly like the sodden sugar sachets that accompany the hot beverages on a windy wet mid week fixture, elegently displayed alongside the UHT individual milk portions.

Why would anybody wish to "sprinkle" their sugar, when at the Withdean one can simply drop the entire sodden lump into their tea alongside the sachet that has refused to remove itself from its contents.

In my view - the fact the tea bag is left in tea, for you to inflict third degree burns on yourself when trying to remove it with a plastic stirer - is pure culinary genius.

Not the real one
Why don't we get a decent stall selling food? Like a Burger king stall or a proper sandwich bar like Leicester have. We could learn alot from them and the USA. Why not be able to get nachos, chilli tacos, and decent burgers at propper prices.

Chips £1.50!!!!
With Curry sauce £2.50!!!!
£1.00 for a spoon of curry sauce? Terrible.
We should also have a small beer tent open prior to the game.

brighton, actually
some famous moes pizza leaflets were displayed there a while back, for after match munchies!

the new owners (shan trading ltd, they also have the BK franchise in Brighton) probably stopped all the sponsorships
that original owner did... watch the (falmer) space, for another
overpriced, fat and salt enriched, meal oppurtunity!:censored:  :jester: :nono:

Don't normally venture beyond a pie but had the fabled chips & curry sauce on Saturday. Isn't curry sauce supposed to have some consistency? This was more like yellow water with pieces of chilli floating in it. Totally rank!

I would like to have a really good moan about the fact that they ran out of milk before kick off last Saturday.

Then they carried on serving tea and coffee at half time without warning people that there wasn't any milk

The pikey catering company's caravans and trailers are parked perilously close to the gents....are you sure that yellow water was, in fact curry sauce? I don't want to scare you but there are signs in the cubicles asking people to flush twice 'cos it's a long way to the burger vans.

Folowing on from your point Redland.........there is hardly anything for vegetarians at Withdean. I refuse to eat anything there after trying what was supposed to be a vegetable pasty which looked and tasted like shite.

Disgusting overpriced shite! All the time there is a captive audience, the people who run these stalls can print money. Its out of our hands at Withdean, but at Falmer the club will have the chance to put on some decently priced in house catering. Unless of course they go down the road of the Thatcherite scam that was "competitive tendering"?...eg give as little service for as much as possible!

The only veggie grub I've been able to hunt down is a cheese & onion pasty from the stall that also does the doughnuts. It's edible, although you do need to be fairly hungry...
