My standard is bacon, mushrooms, ketchup, no butter.

sorry, not reading whole thread yet so apolgies if already mentioned but the secret to a great bacon sarnie is to toast just one side of each slice and build the sandwich with the soft white untoasted side on the exterior. The initial soft bite, accompanied by the cruch of the toasted side. f*** me gently with a chainsaw if it's not the best sarnie experience.
