So we are currently in Pershore at my sisters and I turn on Juniors laptop and here I am with free internet access.

So assuming the person lives next door how do I stop anyone using my wireless LAN back home ?

Make sure encryption is turned on and stop the Access Point from broadcasting its presence.

OR

Allow your neighbour to use it and charge him/her.

Can't get Wireless. They are more sensitive to decibles than a wired router. It never bloody worked, but we EVENTUALLY got the wired one working.

Can someone explain, in as simple terms as possible, how to set up a wireless connection? I've never been able to get my head round it

Took me a while to work out, because it never worked. Fact is, I was right all along and BT were c*nts.

Its hard to explain and type.

So go to http://www.belkin.com and watch the "Flash" setup guide. Thats what their technical support told me to do, instead of him talking me through it - but I never 'effing had an Internet connection at the time!

Bloody Germans.:jester:

But seriously go toBelkin

Firstly, you're talking out of your arse

Secondly, you get one that doesn't have a DSL modem built in and plug that into the DSL modem. However, I'd expect that to be beyond you.

Each network adaptor has a unique identifyer called a "MAC Address" - for your wireless adaptors, set up the gateway to only allow these MAC addresses in to your network.

To find out the MAC address go to http://www-dcn.fnal.gov/DCG-Docs/mac/xp.html

Once you've set this on your gateway, only the registered MAC's can access your network.
No need to do it for any of your wired NICs (already secure)
NB It is technically possible to clone a MAC address but if your neighbour is this technically minded I suspect your little network won't be of much interest to them.
