Hi JS, I organize the REMF charity golf days and the Prestonville Golf Society. The REMF is again at Mid-Sussex this year, (Friday June 12th), but the four society days are Mid-Sussex, (8th May), Sweetwoods Park, (5th June), West Hove, (3rd July) and Hill Barn, (4th September).

You're welcome to join us on any of those days if you're down this way, especially for the West Hove meeting.

Thanks very much for the invite, mate. I will let you know if I'm in the area and get in touch.

I'm a member of Lewes and its in really good shape. I can't wait to play on saturday, although it has been very very cold up there this winter.

I wouldn't go near Seaford Head if you do not like playing off of mats, and hitting to (some) temporary greens. Seaford (Blatchington) is in good condition, fairly expensive though, and East Brighton was in good nick when I played there just before Christmas.

I remember Jeff Pinsent. I used to caddy for the Seaford pro (Phil Stevens) and they were contemporaries. Jeff was a class player and I think went on to the satellite tour. I good player, but not good enough for the main tour.

Thanks for all your tips, guys and gals. I will stick with the downland courses and hope for a dryish next week or so.

I miss golf so much here over during the winter. Courses close at the end of October and at best open again in mid-February. The snow just doesn't seem to want to stop here this winter and I can't see the Austrian courses being open for at least another month:nono:

Cheers for all the info. Ended up playing Seaford Head and Waterhall. The former was in good nick - even the mats were okay. Views are stunning and I was really impressed as a whole. The 18th hole must be one of the best in England.

Waterhall was alright but not in the same league as Seaford Head.

Lewes actually offer a winter memebership which is really good value, providing you have a handicap.
