The team have performed better than i thought they would have done, and hats off too all the players thus far and staff!!

Barnes is and will be a great player for the albion, but WE seem to miss to many chances in games that should be done and duster, Tranmere a great example, Rochdale, etc

Defence is rock solid, and if we are up where we are come January a T B is serious of us getting up, we have to sign a proven striker!! I know this has gone on all summer, but le fondre is the man!! scores all sorts of goals.

I Know they said will not take less than 3 million but 1 MILLION will buy him in my opinion!! I can see lack of goals the only thing that will stop us this season, and next, and season after, so someone has to be bought at some point could it be january?? thoughts please:bowdown:

9 goals already this season from Le Fondre, certainly demonstrating that last season was not a flash in the pan. We will need to bolster our attack if we are to maintain our current league position through til May.

I'm quite hopeful we'll keep him for the rest of the season, He seems to be enjoying playing for us and the chance of winning promotion with the Albion has got to be more appealing than just a possible place on the bench at Newcastle.

I think we will as long as we're in the play off places with the new ground being almost complete then we are going to be a more attractive proposition then a team who finished bottom half of table for two seasons running. I think the point will have also been proved to Tony that a bit more spent on a striker could see us 7 or 9 points clear now which seems ridiculous to say but isn't being unrealistic. In that case I reckon we might splash the cash.

Gary Madine would be a great signing in January for us;

Young - check
Affordable - check
Knows where the back of the net is? - check
Massive potential that could be nurtured by poyet? - check

From what I have seen on the football league show this season the lad is quick, skillful and a cool finisher. Could be a fantastic signing would definitely be allowed to leave Carlisle for around 750k as well.

Barnes is not and will not be a great player for us.
The liberal use of ' great ' in every walk of life, devalues the efforts of people who deserve this title.
After you have used ' great ' there is nowhere elese to go...you have to call virtually everybody in the team ' great '
Now, lets look at the right definition for Ashley Barnes.
These are the choices....
1) Journeyman...talented enough to be a pro-footballer ( think how many aren't! ) carrying out his team role to the best of his ability but not being the difference, lacking consistency and not producing match-winning performances.
2) Above average....consistent performer with the occasional match-winning effort.
3) Good.....reliable, consistent and regularly lifting the team with match winning performances.
4) Very Good...playing at the highest level ( international ) talented but just short of top-class ( e.g Steven Gerrard )
5) Great.....done it at the highest level...huge talent...talked about from generation to generation ( e.g Pele, Maradona, Zidane )
6) Legend....leaves an indelible memory on fans of that club. Could be any of the above but is cemented in fans hearts for either character, personality, effort, ability, long-service or even one moment that lives forever.
( e.g Jimmy Glass...Peter Ward....Steve Fletcher...etc )

Ashley Barnes is working his socks off but is missing lots of chances.
Other strikers in our division are already up to 6-7-8 goals, working off fewer chances than BHA are creating.
Glenn Murray is performing admirably upfront, as the target man, but his assists are largely being wasted and a more ' natural ' goal poacher is required.
We would finish in the top two with a 25+ goalscorer to support Murray ( who will get 12-15 )
The test is whether we can stay up there with our limited striking options.

It depends who is available and for what price, same as the summer.

Did we in May, June, July, or August?

Nope. Just ended up with a Dundee cast-off.

We've blown it unfortunately.

Yes, might as well give up and stop going now. Get a grip man.

Anyway, back on subject, we do need to try and get someone in to add some weight up front, but it depends who is available and at what fee.
Sandaza doesn't look like he will cut it, but we shall see. It would have been nice to see the Norweign yesterday, but I think Gus would have only put him on if we were 2-0 up.

I hope we go after someone who is more proven than those that have been suggested. I'd like to see the sort of players that can do it in the Championship coming in january.

I'd love to have Leroy Lita
