I think Gus is good at signing players for free and developing them, that's where his strengths lie. I don't know if I trust him with a big budget too much.
A 6-0 hammering in such a massive game after putting out THAT squad is hardly a "bad day at the office". More like a punching-your-boss-in-the-face-then-shitting-on-his-desk-then-banging-his-wife-on-said-desk-smearing-her-and-the-desk-in-your-faeces day at the office.
Really. Maybe there's a reason for that.

All players Gus has paid good money for and hardly ever uses. Is it any wonder with the amount of waste in our squad, the budget is being tighten a bit. Maybe time to start selling instead of buy buy buy.
If thats true maybe Bloom is getting a bit pissed off with the waste.
Did anyone actually notice the pitch at west Ham? the line had been bought in so much to make it the most narrow pitch I have ever seen ? I think that is why there was no wingers. There just not was the room.
I also had good chats with tanno and gus recently and the budget for next year is not as they want. We will do well to keep hem let alone sign new players !
Us, more wingers than the RAF and we don't play them, the manager refuses to change things and then see our season drift away. Are we not a little entitled to be pissed off at him?
I was told different on saturday from a very highly respected member of the board.
no ones told me anything..i feel left out![]()
The main thing that worries me is the amount of money the club is already spending - not just on player tansfers and wages, but the whole infrastructure of the club must be costing an absolute fortune that is not being funded by gate receipts and marketing initiatives. We should be wary of spending too much too soon on players.
What is this obsession about it being a massive game?
Babbling ad men, and virgin office boys in suits with a Sky Sports microphone might waffle on about that, but supposedly intelligent football fans...?
There are few players in the squad who will make it in the premiership. If we were to go up now we would never be able to get sufficient newcomers in to give us a chance of premiership survival. We need to develop a squad in this division who could form the nucleus of a premiership team. I don't care how long it takes, but if we go up I want us to have a realistic chance of staying there.
Yes, it will cost money, but I don't expect TB to keep putting his hand in his pocket every five minutes. I agree that loan signings are not ideal, but if we hadn't borrowed this season, we would have ened up struggling.

I reckon Tony will be letting Gus spend money this summer. He's seen his manager take us on a constant upward trajectory. Why wouldn't he?
Why do you think the infrastructure of the club is costing fortune? Maybe I've got it wrong but as far as I can see, the club shop has never been so popular, season ticket sales are bringing in half a million every month for 10 months, the Amex is being used for non match purposes and the catering is also bringing in lots of cash. I also believe that we have a wage cap in place unless Naylor has got it wrong in his Argus articles. Tony Bloom has lent us £93 million to build the stadium but that is interest free and we were told that when we were going to borrow money to build we needed 12K season tickets to break even. His interest free loan is until 2023 and then if it isn't paid back it would be converted into shares. I'm genuinely interested as to why you're worried.

Leeds, Portsmouth etc etc the list is endless. I think that those advising caution are talking sense. We have all seen what happens if a club gets to an unrealistic position and then begins to spend what they can't afford to stay there.
Having just recovered from the fall out of our last soire to the top division i would be happy with a sustainable mid championship budget and see where that can take us.
Ambition and expectation is all very well but it must be achieved by living within our means.
