This whole 'not big & strong enough' excuse doesn't wash.
Wardy was hardly a heavyweight was he!
If Jake had played as many games as Leon, he would have more than 3 goals,i'd wager.

I agree the strength thing is not a big issue. He has a decent touch and his movement is not bad. I do wonder about his pace he is fast, but is not lightening and that could be an issue, but we shall see.

But regarding your last comment, what do you base that on? On here Robinson seems to have become a myth. He has been built up to be something massive and yet how much have people seen of him?

I have read things about getting knocked off the ball too easily which is what the bulking up and strengthening is designed to do.
The defenders at this level are very big and strong.

Maybe he could outpace them but that is what Leon does.

As UB says, I'm not sure why you'd reckon that - he's a prolific scorer at youth/reserve level, but has never really shown more than that in first-team games. Let him stay at Aldershot, get as much competitive action as possible, then see if he's ready for next season. He's still only played 3 games for them.

If we persist with McPhee, we'll probably get relegated! He'll find goals easier next season in the 1st. Personally, I'd give Robinson a chance. I'd rather talk Fred Binney out of retirement than persist with McPhee.

I think the difficult thing would be pairing Robinson and Knight up front, regardless of their pace and ability, it would give us probably the shortest combined strike duo in the history of English football. Nonetheless I think it might work if Leon remained in the winger role that seems to have suited him of late and Jake partnered big Mac up front. Personally I would love to see him get a chance before the end of the season.

I think if Leon was to get injured then Jakey would get into the team. I also think part of the reason sending him out on loan is to get him match fit and help bulk his muscles up a bit.

or if the Leon signing saga never ends and he goes in comes Jake.

Exactly. Once we are safe MM can drop Flea'n and bring Jake in to do the same role. Can't wait. I'm sure Jake would be more than pleased at playing (even out of position) and would give 100%. Quite the opposite of the little shite.

What scoring 20 odd goals in your first season.

Ideally, but we're gonna be in the Championship next year and the stats show that Flea'n'shite does not cut it at this level. Not surprising the position he is playing at the moment tho.

You've not looked beyond the stats and noticed the massive workrate Leon's put in - and the goals he's MADE - this season then? ???

I've noticed his body language this season. Seen that it has taken 2 thirds of the season for him and the need for MM to drop him, to realise it's a team game and most worringly seen that he is so Albion through and through that he hasn't put pen to paper.

I make no apologies for wanting someone who wants to play for us not jusst for himself, whatever the position. The king is dead long libve the king........even if he did wear an invisible cloak!

Part of the problem is that his agent has been away several times since January when the contract off was made.
It was in the press last week that Knight, MM and Leon's agent all met together and are sorting out details.
Leon himself has said he wants to stay for 3 years so where is the problem with that?

Jake is still young and needs experience. We've trusted MM so far with knowing what is good for players and what is needed in this division.

The flea employs his agent. If wanted to get the deal done and dusted it would be. We all know Leon is a precocious talent but unfortunately IMHO he thinks he is better than he is. There's nothing wrong with confidence...if you are delivering! I want him to sign and knuckle down and follow the mantle of OGH. Then he would deserve some credit.

The stats, they always show the full picture. Van Nistelrooy's got one goal in open play this season - aren't you glad he doesn't play for us?!
