Are you all like these people on telly with houses full of rubbish they cannot throw away?

No, I don't.

Because, although I know football is a results business etc etc, I think there is a slight difference between inanimate objects that no longer serve a purpose and decent hard-working human beings who have done their best to serve the club we are all "members" of. Not saying they all need to say, but ridiculous analogy.

If he's fit and well, esp for pre season.
He can fight for his place, like everyone else.

I find it hilarious that a player who scored 2 good goals against us, one good one for us, and other than that has looked average at best to the point that he got loaned out has such a positive reputation on here, and a quick look at other threads has everyone slating people who have contributed a lot such as Navarro, Dicker, Barnes, Painter, Sparrow. Bizarre.
I think the reason we want to see him given a chance is that since he has come here we've only seen him in very short drips and drabs. The time on the pitch he's had, he's been either injured or coming back for an injury, so we haven't seen his true ability yet. The other players you have mentioned are all exposed so we have already had a chance to make a judgement call on them. You might find it hilarious, but I'd rather we have a proper look at a player who has cost us £500k before bombing him out.

Just for the record - Bristol is about 138 miles and 2h 38mins from Nottingham, and Brighton about 190 miles and 3h 26mins (AA figures). Clearly the guy is telling porkies to make him look better!

He may not be telling porkies - perhaps just admitting that he ignores the speed limits (and everyone knows that getting round the M25 often takes longer than the route-mapping services suggest).

I agree that some of Hoskins' tweets and body language may have been negative but after the hype of last summer he must be frustrated to say the least. But I can't understand why some people have written Hoskins off, what short memories. He was the other top scorer in Lge 1 last year along with CMS, Murray and Barnes and scored a cracker against us. Many posters on here this time last year were urging us to bring him in.

We then sign him for one of our biggest transfer fees which seems to go down well on NSC, he has a promising pre-season then the poor bloke gets a couple of injuries and barely features in the side, let alone gets any sort of run to get in any form, he gets a few cameos in a deeper role (including a great goal) but because Gus plays only one up front he is shipped out to regain form elsewhere. At the time it was seen as being helpful letting him go to a club nearer his family.

Meanwhile other players get extended runs in the team in spite of their form. I for one would like to see Hoskins back here and putting a shift in to get back in the frame. Its not as if our other strikers have been exactly prolific in the last month or so. It only needs a couple of injuries to them and all of a sudden Hoskins is our main man. Then its up to him to shgow whther he is the real deal in the Championship.

We might not have had a look at him, but presumably, Poyet has done.

Similar to the idiots that wrote off Vicente

Haven't seen enough of Hoskins in an Albion shirt to form an opinion of how he could fit in, but his "footballers" tweet doesn't win any favour with me.

Many people work a 10/12 hour day and commute 3/4 hours on top of that, not once a week. I know we have to look after our footballers but suggest they get in the real world (rehab surely only a few hours a day). Would obviously have sympathy if he is genuinely depressed, but afraid I'm not fully buying into it and think he's trying to keep his options open.

Having said that would like to see more of him in an Albion shirt, with the right attitude.

I'd like him to stay, seeing we spunked out £500,000 on him, bigger financial flop than Mickey Thomas should he leave ?

I can do both in less but it can take a lot lot longer to do Brighton because of the M25 and the invariable A23 roadworks - his reasons are perfectly acceptable for me.

Whether Gus will be advised to forgive and forget is entirely a different matter - history says not

The M42 & M5 route is a more straightforward journey than Nottm to Brighton. History includes Calderon who was forgiven.

I'd forgotten Calde - hopefully a good omen. If Hosky comes back fit and with his head in the right place he can still be what Gus thought he was signing but both parties will need to sit down and talk honestly to prevent it all going horribly wrong - it's that or Hoskins has to move on sadly.

If he can remain injury free, then he would have the free time to visit family rather than rehab every day. I agree there's no point in keeping an unhappy player as happened with McNulty.

My worry (not a criticism) is that a player signs a two year contract but leaves his family 200 odd miles away. It is always going to create stress for him or his family or both whether because of living away or excessive travelling. If and when something goes wrong health-wise (especially in a job where fitness is everything) then catastrophe is knocking on your door. I know that footballers sometimes live in a seemingly pampered bubble but it can be a bloody lonely one if you are on your own and away from your family and for all sorts of reasons many are not equipped to deal with that - what with that and being paid silly money I do sometimes think that some footballers' seeming intent on self destruction and the adverse publicity it attracts on them and their employers could be helped by clubs taking greater interest in players' off pitch welfare. Maybe that needs to be part of the contract

wise words as usual, have a feeling lessons may be learnt all round next season and we will hopefully see the best of him.
