He is starting to fulfil his potential now, especially in one day cricket. His temperament is second to none but he has a nice lot of fore in his belly.

My question for you, will he ever get close to the talents of the legend that is Ian 'Beefy' Botham or is he as good no as he ever will be?

Not a chance, Botham was awesome.

Flintoff will never open the bozling for England.

Botham was our best Bowl and best bat for a sustained period of time.

I've said no mainly because Botham got into the team, and made an immediate impact, right from his 1st test.

Hopefully Freddie will become a great all rounder, but I think the time he's taken to get to that stage gives Beefy the edge.

He could prove to be as good as Botham, but I doubt it. Ian Botham was exceptional, and performed at that level for many many years. I fear Flintoff will fall short in that we will only see the best of him in short bursts.

I think people remember Botham with rose tinted spectacles. He had 2 or 3 seasons of top notch batting but in the mid to late 80s his batting was nothing special at all.

Can't argue with his bowling though - even when he got slower, he still took wickets because he bowled intelligently.
