No, just pointing out to the journalist the virtues of using the correct verb.

But also the rules of the game. You are so uber you don't even realise you are being uber!

Yes, he didn't win a penalty against the Gills, but he did win a penalty against Brentford :jester:
Apologies, you're quite correct, it was Brentford.
I always have trouble distinguishing the anonymous lower-division fodder we now find ourselves up against. I can barely remember who we played last week. They're all the same.

That's your spin on it. I was specifically addressing London Irish...

I was reading between the lines. It is my one Uber ability.

I'm not sure Deano is even `in` yet to get out: but based on last night, I think we should keep searching for a manager. That first half was among the worst football I've seen in 30+ years of watching them. No inspirational tactics, too many long balls, little movement, nothing new at all. Better after the break but still the old problems remain and a lack of real football - last seen under Mickey Adams. How the hell I'm going to persuade my young lad that his future lies in supporting this club when they play like that is beyond me. Sorry, I'm a die-for-the-club supporter - but last night was dreadful.

Worst in 30 years? You have got to be kidding me? Did you see the Crewe match?

Give the man a break! He's been in charge 2 matches and has yielded 4 points which is 4 more than the previous 3.

It wasn't a fantastic performance, but a definite improvement over the previous ones and I think Wilkins should be given until Christmas to prove himself.

I thought he looked a bit lost on the right. He seemed to play deeper in the second half with Hammond further up the pitch and looked a lot more comfortable. The fact he is fairly mobile is a real positive and he seems good in the air, so he could be a very good holding midfielder.

Yes, the Hammond thing is a good spot, we seemed to almost switch to 4-3-3 in the second half. For me, Fraser and Hammond are players of similar ability and potential, although happier perhaps in differing parts of midfield. I just hope we do not fall into the trap of building up Fraser too much just to tear him down later like we have done with Hammond.

With Fraser he seems to do the simple things well. I would say that Wilkins using him as a centre back in the youth games has been good for his learning of the game, as his positional awarness and reading of the ball in the air was actually quite impressive.

The thing that gets me with Hammond at present is he goes from looking really lethargic and slower than a broken day trolley to suddenly showing some pace, in the same game.

I think while certain sections of support have teared into Hammond I think it is unfair to generalise. Some people have stuck up for Hammond, some have offered constructive criticism, some have said politely that he is not good enough and others have said he was merely out of form.

Fraser and Hammond are quite different players. It is like comparing Paul Ince and David Platt. Hammond has been asked/attempted to play in the midfield role that Fraser does so well and has found it is not his natural game. He is a hardworking, goalscoring midfielder, one who can finish, gets onto the end of crosses, makes runs and tracks back to help out the rest of the midfield.

The main difference I would say is that although they are 2 dynamic players, one is defensively dynamic (Fraser) while one is offensively dynamic (Hammond).

It means another 2 pages of defining uber, before comparing your beards etc....

I have no beard I'm afraid. The men in my family aren't particularly hirsute. TLO is the Uber beard round here.

I think this happens when Hammond tries to take on the anchor role in midfield, his decision making is not the best defensively and he gets caught out in two minds or off the pace of play. However when he is freed up to make runs he is more decisive and that is when he bursts through into the other teams box.

Essentially I don't think he is that quick but spots our offensive play early so has already got a full head of steam by the time most other players have caught on.

Well, apparently Tony Stokes is gash, yes, that talented young midfielder who was one of our best players for the first 3 games of the season. But he might as well f*** off now, he's gash you see.

i would imagine he is going back to West Ham after failing to feature in the last two games - no point paying his wages

Have they got any up and coming strikers of similar age because if so they would be well down in the pecking order for selection to the first team if Sheringham is rated about 5th choice.

Seriously though I was being Ironic as Wilkins is doing exactly the same things McGhee did and was flamed for. Just still feel aggrieved that we ousted a manager that would have got us into the plays offs at least come the end of the season and my Mark McGhee poster above my bed is tear stained

Wilkins is doing exactly the same McGhee did?
What like making Hammond captain and getting him to play his best since about a season ago?
I thought Mayo had his best game in ages on Tuesday night.
