Obviously in supporting Brighton we do have a lot to be miserable and sad about. But what I really don't udnerstand is: why do people add to that?

I've noticed so many negative supporters who fabricate rumours of more players leaving, more bad deals done etc. These ar ethe same people who simply refuse to get excited about things and continue their pessimism. I ask you, what is the point?

Football is about passion and belief. If you have neither of those in your club what's the point. Why add to your depression? I wondered for a lnog time whether it was a classic case of projection. When going to a game and we're angry about something back home we shout at the ref, the oposite players etc to relieve this anger. But why are people turning on, in essence, themselves?

These same people moan about dwindling crowds, high prices and lack of atmosphere. Yet how do they think they're helping. I sat at the cup game the other week and the bloke in front of me did not cheer once, did not clap once, ALL he did was (when something went wrong) is sit there are say ' well that is what happens when you have a tight chairmen' I was closer then I've ever been to whacking him one. There is absolutely no point to that. With Brighton, I think in more then any club personally, the supporters have the biggest influence. Sadly, when we're not up for a game niether are the players etc and we DO actually have a part to play and I have noticed this often. There were parts of the game where brighton players were trying to get it going and the crowd responded. What is the point of sitting there, in silence, waiting for us to loose the ball and then moaning again.

Okay, so that was one supporter, but I have noticed many more that do it.

Don't add to our own woes by adding moe fabricated one, they're not scare-mongers just idiots.

difficult one, think nature of a football fan is to point out things that are wrong, after all everyone is an expert. I don't understand not supporting at the game though. I like a good moan on here , it's my moaning outlet but at the game I am 100% behind the boys....

I've come to the conclusion that BHA Fans in general are just the lower league counterparts of Tottenham Hotspur - bitching/moaning/crying/ etc etc no matter what happens on or off the pitch.

Not just the usual goons on here but you hear it on the phone ins, you get it from that Naylor twat in the Argus stirring up shite & you hear it at withdean everyweek.

I think people need a time machine, plop back to 1996/7 and REMEMBER just how bad off we really were, then come back and GET A BLOODY GRIP!

There's only so long you can use that one though. Just because we were complete toilet a decade doesn't mean people have to be delighted that we're slightly less shit today.

yeah good point, but it does come across that aside of the Spurs Fans simularitys we seem to have a Newcastle "we deserve the right" to be better than we actually are attitude. We are a smallish club with a shite ground and yet people seem to think we deserve to be in the top 10 in the Championship - and its those that need brining down to earth somewhat

Well I was pretty sure my Grandad was about to so I thought I'd leave it to him.

But seriously, what is with the negativity?

I am not someone who vomits out roses and I acknowledge there is a lot wrng in football and this club. But there's a lot right, and it's time people started acknowledging that.

There do seem to be fans who have a superiority complex and think that we do have some sort of "right" to be at that level now but they're a deluded, though vocal, minority. Obviously, I'd love to see us competing in the Championship. Realistically, however, it probably isn't going to happen in the near future.

It's not about being delighted, it's about getting a sense of perspective. Offloading a player who has immediate ambitions to be in a higher league while buying a player of proven ability who wants to come and play for us is hardly the disaster it's being made out to be.

I agree with you on some of that. I don't think any critisism of DK can be greeted with ' but without him we wouldn't have a club'. but in the day-to-day running of brighton good things DO happen. Yet some people don't acknowledge these whatsoever or try to put the dampeners on it.

The problem with the moans on here is that NSC should really be all of us in the north stand of the Goldstone before a game chatting about whatever and excitied about kick off whilst standing up (that how you're supposed to watch football) rather than sitting behind computers when we're often at work or at home completely bored. Withdean is a funeral parlour atmosphere because it is very hard to light a fire with damp kindling. Small pockets of noise in an open air stadium doesn't get anything going. the vast majority of albion fans at withdean aren't really up for any chanting or team motivation. they just wanna pay 25 quid to be much quicker to moan than to praise - like 4000 Alan Greens in one place. i find it depressing and i'm glad i live outside of brighton because i don't feel guilty about not going to home games and the away atmosphere is about having a good time and has the hardcore. My last home match was mansfield and it was very embarrassing to be out sung by a couple of hundred away supporters.

I felt low after the argus' tabloid style "3 targets missed" article because it made the albon once again (like last year) sound like utter FAILURES. I am disappointed with the TW outcome but I do think it is mainly down to the fact that it is still so hard to attract players to withdean. I don't think Naylor helps matters. Journos want to stir anything they can get. Believe me I work in media (as you can tell from this rambling post it is not writing)... if we actually get behind our team we could still be in and around the last play-off spot....

We are "light in midfield" when we should have worked harder and earlier to get another midfielder and winger. Currie was not our only option. He's 33 anyway - and I don't think he wants to play for us.

The whole Hammond things is an example of footie fans expecting the players to show the same loyalty that they show (doesn't happen).... he's only 24 (how many of you plus 30 year olds on here have any type of maturity), he's never been a fan's favourite, he's gonna miss his mates (players) and sad to see the back of the albion but excited to play championship football. Good luck to him (shame for him it was colchester not sheffield united/palace or whatever rumour was formed on here)

I'm not flouncing, i'm just bored of NSC....

the prblem with that is, is that many of the players will catch ear of what has been said and will be affected by that. I do completely agree with you though. the amount footie fans pay and the dedication they have they have a right to give their opinions but alot of what has been said recently is unnessicary and unhelpful.

I do know what you mean.

Back in the days of the Goldstone, something like NSC just didn't exist. Now it's part of the culture to have 'now' opinions and 'now' reactions to anything.

When I used to go to the Goldstone, I'd always find I'm standing near some miserable git who would moan his arse off about absolutely everything - even when we were winning 4-0. He just couldn't handle the emotion of 'joy'. The point is, very little has changed - people still hold the club in a certain regard - in the intervening times with the exception of the fact that there is now an outlet for people to offload their emotions - negative or positive - in a place where they feel their opinions will be heard - and face it, we all like everyone else to hear our own oh-so-self-important opinions.

The other issue is that we have a board of directors who are extremely accessible and approachable in ways that many other boards of directors are not. We have had this 'open-door' policy for quite a while, and I think people take this for granted.

I believe there would be far fewer fantasy-led conspiracies on here and out there in the big wide world if the board and the club closed themselves off and said nothing bar the bare minimum.

And if NSC closed down.
