Yes, I've stopped using our local Nextdoor site; it's full of local bores blaming all community problems, including pot-holes, on immigrants, Woke, the 'Lib Dum' council, or the 'Liebour' government.

You just know that they're all Farage-worshippers and Phil Mitchell-lookalikes, who think they're being hilariously funny or clever, but are reminding us all, yet again, just how stupid and politically illiterate they are.
Yes pretty fair assessment. Lots of reform voters and alarmingly some thinly veiled racism. Some unintentional hilarious trivial stuff too which as suggested could be the new ' Bell Cheeses ' thread

Our road has a whatsapp group which luckily my wife has joined instead of me.

The latest drama was a petition being sent to the council to stop them spraying our street with weed killer. The 8 vocal people in favour of the petition didn't consider that some of the other 50 houses on the street might actually want the weeds taken care of.

Anyway, literally 2 days later the boys from the council came strutting up the road like the ghostbusters and drenched the place. I gave them a toot and wave as I drove past. Marvellous.

.... Wait is this going to be the new bell cheeses at work thread but for neighbours?
I wonder if we are in the same group. I am not one of the 8! :ROFLMAO:

Exactly. There's enough of that on NSC

Never used to cease to amaze me when folk responded to Facebook posts that were clearly made up adverts as if they were real. Folk believe any old shit. You only have to look at transfer rumours in NSC.
Facebook you say....
Councils take no notice of objections nor petitions so they’re wasting their time.
Really? We have a local WhatsApp group that has effectively mobilized against a green field development proposal by a company of no information based in the isle of man. So far so good. The downside is that members have been using the forum to bitch about the Labour party, apparently on the grounds they are not the Greens or Liberals. If you think NSC can go off topic ....

They did in my street. A friend was looking for approval of a 3 bed house on land on the back of my garden. The planner came round to my garden and others and rejected the permission for among a number of things, their house overlooking ours (which should not be included), parking and access issues.
I'm talking about thousands of objections like ESCC ignoring a petition to allocate time slots at our recycling centre when we don't ever have a queue. Everyone knows this will lead to paying to use it.
Another one is an 18 storey block of flats without parking on the quayside, totally out of keeping and adding to an already badly congested town centre.

Both passed and petitions totally ignored.

We’ve got similar going on but with planning permission applied for to erect a mobile phone mast nearby. One of the Nimbys who got a letter (only those in properties that will actually have a view of the proposed mast got letters) has photocopied it and dropped one in every letter box in the area urging us all to object, and our whatsapp group is full of people moaning about it despite the vast majority of houses having no sight of it at all (and it’s planned for the corner of a field). A few of us are quite happy to have a better mobile signal because it’s currently rubbish  The planning application on the council website now has loads of (some ridiculous) objections - with each one assigned to the address it came from
A much needed improvement to the dreadful mobile signal at that end of town. I hope it goes ahead.

Maybe the people who responded didn't make a good point of why the hassle of booking wasn't worth the cost saving of £50,000?

One councillor had a deciding vote and used it. It wasn't just my town but this covers the whole of East Sussex, Lewes, Polegate etc.

She didn't even have the manners to reply to an email I sent her.

We should have had elections this year but the Tories requested it be postponed because Sussex is going to be reorganised next year.

Ah OK, fair do's as I only mentioned both of those in the last week to my wife. Shoreham tip empty when we were there and all the flats going up along the river and I couldn't see any parking that would cover the amount of flats.
