So I'm part of a little community site called NEXTDOOR which I believe is a nationwide thing that can be set up for your local area. It does have some some legitimate benefits. One occasional facet is humour to which end I posted this earlier today :
My neighbours are too low income to afford a wifi connection, and too proud to use mine. So I renamed mine Free Council Wifi and told them I had read about it and what the password was. My neighbour is now halfway through an online college qualification and I'm so proud of her!
Imagine my surprise when instead of some witty replies or perhaps even " you're not funny mate " I only had replies along the lines of :
"Well done you!"
"Kindly done. Well done proud to now know you."
"That is great You are a good neighbour and person."
"I wish everyone thought the way you do. What a kind thing to do."
A quick glance at the available profiles for these posters suggest none are little old folks who might conceivably not get the joke but should in all in fact realise the stupidity and danger of such a ' gesture '.
My initial reaction was to laugh but then Mrs Metal pointed out just how shocking it was and how scammers have it so easy.
