Why oh why oh why do people keep STICK INSECTS pets?

They can be trained to do tricks though, look at this one.....

As a child I was fascinated by them and reared them from eggs to fully grown adults. We had massive privet hedges in our garden so they made a very cheap alternative to a pet dog or cat. Sad but true.

I did actually have a stick insect as a pet. I bought 2 from the Living World place at Cuckmere Haven when I was a kid. One died unfortunately but the other lived to the ripe old age of 13 months.

And it grew HUGE

I had to make a custom made cage for it in the end, it had wings and was nearly 12 inches long, it looked like one of those creepy crawlies in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom when the woman has to put her hand in the hole to pull the lever.

I called it Cedrick and he ate bramble leaves.

I loved that little guy. My mum wasn't too keen though...........

Are you 100% certain that Cedrick was not Cecilia?
