Brilliant story mate - my wife is adopted and 5 years ago found her birth family - Mum, 2 brothers and a sister. Since she found them her life has been full of joy and happiness so I can see what you are going through. You have a lot of catching up to do and I guarantee you will love every minute of it.

Brighton and Hove Albion is in the blood of all of us and we all go to great lengths to demonstrate our devotion to the blue and white cause.

Family however, is a different kettle of fish and something that brings out a whole different set of emotions.

You will have a great weekend, regardless of what goes on in Cardiff and I for one will raise a glass to you both from a bar in Puerta Pollensa at around 3pm on Sunday.

Marvellous, marvellous scenes

BTW, you are right, Braders is a top bloke

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Cheers Hiney ... I'll drink to you too cos I can guess your torn emotions .... I gather Braders is a similar age to my daughter .... maybe they should meet!!!!!!!!
:lolol: :p

Endorse all of the above - you have definitely made the right decision.

I've got two young kids and, as much as they're a pain sometimes, I can't imagine life without them. As Easy 10 says, some things are more important than football.

(I read Graham Thorpe's story recently, and you can definitely see why some men go to the extremes they do to try and get the issues of fathers' rights into people's thinking.)

After all, there will be another big day for the Albion - we've had the Cup Final, play-off final, Hereford; and now there's Sunday... but in a few years time the next one will be with us...

Why don't you promise her that you'll try and do whatever you can to bring her to the first ever game at Falmer...? :)

My thinking - through experience - is that you should never make yourself unhappy to make someone else happy, especially when a situation can be avoided through compromise.

Which is why, rather flippantly, I asked if OTLW could take his daughter to Cardiff.

But re-reading OTLW's message, it's obvious - and understandable - that spending quality time with his daughter will make him more happy than watching the Albion, so it's all good.

:clap2:

Now, back to work...

Have an excellent weekend with your daughter OTLW. Because every moment with her must be precious - and those are the sort of moments that need treasuring. But she's still got a father in a million! We'll be thinking of you on Sunday.

The lack of rights that men have with respect to their children in this country simply beggars belief. It really is about time this issue was addressed by politicians. I'm anti fox hunting and all that but it PISSES ME OFF to think of all that effort the government have put in to force the anti hunting laws through over something that is little more than a pathetic class war, when all the time people like OTLW suffer 18 years without seeing their kids through simple viscious vindictiveness of ex partners and successive governments do JACK SHIT about it.

My mum and dad divorced when I was seven and I thank my lucky stars they were adult enough to do what they could to ensure we now have normal relationships with them BOTH. After the divorce, my dad was seeing a (quite tasty) divorced woman who was bitter towards her ex and kept refusing him access to their children. In the end, dad walked out on her because he was disgusted with her attitude. I'm not surprised. It's as abhorrent as wife-beating men if you ask me.

OTLW - you are a very very good man, not much left in life without family - and when you think you've lost some and get them back - it certainly makes you realize how precious it is...

I don't know you OTLW, but your story is extremely touching. I am very happy for you and hope The Albion add a little extra to your Sunday by doing the honours and taking us back up to Div 1.:drink: :drink: :drink:

Good luck OLTW.

My family was pretty shitty in my childhood but there was a constant - the Albion. When I was booted out at 15 I immersed myself in everything BHA and they became part of my family.

I'm travelling to Cardiff with my Dad and 10 year old brother (I'm 30) and will spend the night before with my sister who I haven't seen for 3 years, who lives in Cardiff.

It'll be a special weekend all round. Can't imagine what it must be like to be reunited with your own flesh and blood after so long. One thing I do know though is that it must be as exhilirating, in football parlance, as Hereford, Swindon, Donny and all the promotions put together, and then some.

OLTW, all the best mate. Have a super day.

I echo that.

My Dad took me to the Albion and I loved every moment with him. He was away a lot being in the Navy but those moments I had with him were special (he died 6 years ago)

A daughter's love for her Dad is something really unique.

(We'll get promotion on Sunday for you so that we will be playing Plymouth next season and you can visit Tanya there for the weekend)
