Thing is it's one sided. We hate them because they were the 'local' club in the days of hooligans and the old third division. They couldn't care less about Brighton as they have closer London teams. The rivalry only merges when the play us.
Absolute rubbish.Thing is it's one sided. We hate them because they were the 'local' club in the days of hooligans and the old third division. They couldn't care less about Brighton as they have closer London teams. The rivalry only merges when the play us.
You appear to be confusing Palace-Brighton with Palace-Charlton.Thing is it's one sided. We hate them because they were the 'local' club in the days of hooligans and the old third division. I doubt there is anything quite as crushing as unrequited hatred , at qpr away two weeks ago and the last chelsea v fulham game i went to at stamford bridge , both qpr and fulham fans went puce with rage at the " we dont hate you, cos you're shit" chants from chelsea. You appear to be confusing Palace-Brighton with Palace-Charlton.
And yet football is full of this. You laugh at those two clubs, but lets be honest, Spurs are 100 times more concerned with beating Arsenal than Chelsea. I suppose West Ham v Chelsea has always been a big rivalry though.I doubt there is anything quite as crushing as unrequited hatred , at qpr away two weeks ago and the last chelsea v fulham game i went to at stamford bridge , both qpr and fulham fans went puce with rage at the " we dont hate you, cos you're shit" chants from chelsea.
Never hated them before last season, but the behaviour of their utter goons in Brighton last year has caused them to be the one team I actively dislike. That and the bollox spouted by their deluded fukwits on here.
Arsenal v spurs has always been a big rivalry , but chelsea v spurs has been a massive match since the 70's if only for the hoooligan rivalry, certainly bigger than arsenal v spurs for that, and for a time when spurs were languishing mid table , arsenal were certainly more concerned with beating us, also , west hams big rivalry is with millwall, certainly has been since the 70's , and dont listen to any mythical bollocks about long ago dockers strikes, its based purely football violence and on south london v east london rivalry .And yet football is full of this. But yes, it must be annoying to support a comedy club like Charlton, Gillingham or Bournemouth where nobody else really gives a f*** about them.
Quite right , it's in our genes. My son hates Palace too.
I won't argue that Spurs/Chelsea was fuelled by hooliganism, but lets be clear about this - if I went to a Spurs forum and asked their opinion on beating Chelsea compared to beating Arsenal, there would be absolutely no comparison and you know it.Arsenal v spurs has always been a big rivalry , but chelsea v spurs has been a massive match since the 70's if only for the hoooligan rivalry, certainly bigger than arsenal v spurs for that, and for a time when spurs were languishing mid table , arsenal were certainly more concerned with beating us, also , west hams big rivalry is with millwall, certainly has been since the 70's , and dont listen to any mythical bollocks about long ago dockers strikes, its based purely football violence and on south london v east london rivalry .
Sure , no argument there , but it would be pushing it to label chelsea spurs as unrequited hatred on our part, there are 5 teams that matter when it comes to LONDON rivalries that MATTER, , they are arsenal, spurs, chelsea, west ham and millwall, the rest , as in qpr , charlton, fulham, palace brentford, orient etc , dont.I won't argue that Spurs/Chelsea was fuelled by hooliganism, but lets be clear about this - if I went to a Spurs forum and asked their opinion on beating Chelsea compared to beating Arsenal, there would be absolutely no comparison and you know it.
I am sure you will all have a million reasons but I gather this all stems back to the Mullery / Venables days. Venables threw some coins out of his pocket at our fans intimating that we are a "two bit" club, this in itself is ironic looking at where we are today... Is this really what happened??

really ? how was that ? genuine question ?Hindsight is a funny thing, can come back to bite you on the arse. Little did we know that when TV was at the club he was milking it personally for all it was worth.
