Why do people insist on leaving their rubbish bags outside the full communal bins?

Makes you laugh. How did we all cope when collections missed a whole week (Sometimes two if you were unfotunate enough to fall on Xmas Day & New Years Day) instead of everyone’s being moved one day due to bank holidays?

But people are idiots unfortunately. Rather than do something proactive with their tiny minds, like even try to get hold of some large boxes to put beside the communal bins, then triple bag their waste, they just throw flimsy carrier bags and shitty tesco value 2 microns thick bin liners in a pile so that their own street stinks of shit and is infested with rats.

Are we really that dependent that we lose bin collections for 1 week and the bloody city goes into melt down. It's pathetic. It shows how desperately dependent many people are. No doubt the same bloody people who complain about paying council tax in the first place.

Glad to see some communities have actually got off their arses, and together have sorted temporary measures out.

Spot on, people are so lazy and there seems to be a generation of "who gives a ****, someone else will clear it up" type people.

Can't disagree with this.
The strike has had the double effect of firstly reminding us what an important (and poorly-paid) public service the bin men provide, and secondly showing us how absolutely stupid some of the public they serve actually are.

The issue is really the areas with flats. Went into Hove centre last night and its a sorry sight. The strike seems strange to me. It's very tough to get employment these days and then to argue you aren't paid enough even when you earn a not inconsiderable amount.

There must be a few people on strike on NSC. Would like to hear their side of it.

So, you're kind of implying its okay for employers to screw their staff during a recession and employees should just accept it?

I'm not suggesting 'screwing employees over' as you put it. But recessions change things. To think companies will act the same in a period of financial growth compared to a recession is ridiculous.
However, that is a debate for another time. How long do we think it will be until the rubbish is cleared ?

How long will it take the council to realise their error and back down? Hopefully not too long.
