Why Britain lags behind France in sport

I think we have lots of good facilities in the UK. The trouble is that not every kid wants to use them. For example Burgess Hill has a very good public sports centre, lots of sports clubs and an excellent golf centre. The K2 or whatever in Crawley is superb. Those towns have reputations as being a bit chavvy but they're actually not bad at all when it comes to facilities. Maybe it's getting people to use them that's the problem.

the NIMBY culture is deep set in this country, except in new towns like Crawley and Milton Keynes.

Abort, retry, fail
It is hardly surprising that we, as a nation, have a problem with teenage pregnancies, underage drinking and child obesity. It is actually embarrassing as to how poor facilities are here, particularly Brighton.

We advertise ourselves as having a youthful population, but for how long?

I can only think of one much welcome advance in the last decade and that is Yellowave past the Palace Pier. The Sailing Club is currently trying to raise it’s status and the Water Sports are generally small independent traders.

What else has been built apart from flats or houses?

Brighton still has plenty of sports clubs, from football, rugby and cricket to athletics, boxing, watersports and many others. If parents think there is nothing for their kids to do then that's utter crap. They need to make some effort to get them involved. It's complete bollocks to say there's nothing to do.
