West is BEST
Like all these disappearing old stalwarts of the high street, their main problem was not moving with the times.

I took this on East Street in Shoreham yesterday morning;

Food yes, but women’s clothes are frumpy.
I'll remember to mention this to Mrs WS next time she tries to buy from M&S online on my card. Not sure what will annoy her the most - that my card is almost always on freeze for online purchases (thank you Lloyds !) or me suggesting what she attempted to buy what might be considered 'frumpy'.

Lingerie is fine. It’s up to you if you want to upset her.

Because the current owners of WHSmith have retained the name for the shops they still have in stations, airports etc.
Yes they have, I'd forgotten that. Mystery solved! :)

Worked on a few WHSmith re-fit/modernisations/extensions/new stores back in the day from an architectural perspective.

HQ was based in Swindon, decent bunch of people in their property department and a fantastic subsidised staff canteen - always looked forward to travelling there for meetings.

As a kid I loved W H Smith, they had everything, comics, books, records, toys, even football cards.

Over the years they seemed to lose their identity, ie what they were about.

Does the sell out include the Toys R Us brand that have gone into the larger stores?
