Any chance of someone decent, or at least someone with a basic working knowledge of the rules, a smidgen of common sense, and eyesight that wouldn't shame a 106 year old war veteran with advanced glaucoma?

yes I know they're called assistant referees nowadays but they're still linesmen to me

Never heard of them. Bound to be rubbish Premiership wannabes therefore.

Agree about calling them linesman. You can't sit in your seat and shout "Oi! Referee's Assistant! You're shit!" can you?

They don't even get called Linesmen - usually "Lino!"

If they are Assistants perhaps this could be abbreviated to "Asshole".
