Greer is in the form if his career. Last year he was outstanding. I can't think of one poor performance, so why replace a player who is perfectly capable of playing Championship football?

He may be in the form of his career but to say there wasn't a single poor performance is wrong. He had a few howlers, and El Abd getting suspended did him a huge favour as Greer played very well with upson.

Obviously, fresh imports are going to happen and maybe even big, renowned names with vast experience who would fancy a year or two in the english game.....but not Carlos Poohole for gods sake! I can't stand him. If theres a player I hate more than him I haven't seen him yet. If he ever became a deck chair, I would still hate him. I reeaally HATE him.
As for the captain, I think he'll keep McGreer....until the time he doesn't!

OGJ apparently wants to bring in Carlos Garcia Badias, so looks like one CB position gone

Give it to Bridcutt - might be the difference between him going and staying

A question with two answers.

I see no reason why Gordon Greer wouldn't continue as club captain, much in the same way Paul Rogers hardly got a game as captain in 2001/02, but still lifted the Division III trophy.

Team captain, should Greer not play, would be Calderon - as he is a present - followed by Bridcutt if Calde is not playing. Having said that, as vociferous and tenacious as Bridcutt is, at only 24, I'd rather see him get on with his own (excellent) game rather than worrying about everyone else's.

If he returns, I could see Hammond getting the gig ahead of Bridcutt. If he returns...

I see no reason to take it from GG, and would still be pretty gobsmacked if Bridcutt isn't playing in the Premier League this season.

It always amazes me on how differently we perceive players. I hold my breath when someone passes the ball back to GG, especially if there is an opposition player bearing down on him. He has a tendency to panic and thrashes the ball anywhere. Quite often it goes out or to an opposition player, which hands the advantage to them.

The reason why he has continued to be captain, is that he did what Gus told him to do, slow the game down, pass the ball back and forth across the pitch and wave his arms about. I never really saw any of the other players taking much notice of his hand waving and he did score, or played a major role in some terrible own goals.

Having said that I must admit there were also a number of inspirational moments last year when he either scored, or laid on scoring opportunities.
