I agree with what you're saying, but my point was something different. Of course people shouldn't not go to games because it's all a bit stressful and the result might be upsetting. That is indeed a bit pathetic. My point is that some people might elect to miss a high stakes game against Palace (and we're specifically talking Palace here) because they don't wish to feel intimidated or fear for their safety, or their children's safety. Would you really turn on a terrified 7 year old tell him or her to stop snivelling, because it's all good and how it should be, and they should just suck it up if they want to be a proper fan?

Yes I would. How many kids get killed or injured at games? Driving them to a game is probably 98% of the risk of taking kids to football.

The fair thing is to tell them there's nothing to be worried about and its cool, just a bit wild. Then by the third cup final, The Kid won't fear a thing. With some rational risk-estimation and some Rosseauan relaxation, it could be a good life lesson that most things aren't as dangerous as they seem.

Not everything is always super comfortable.

Each generation of parents allow their kids to travel shorter distances without supervision. Each generation requires more contact and more control. Someone needs to break the trend before everyone turns into a frightened angry basement wankers, paranoid and paralysed with fear over strangers and all sorts of uncomfortable situations... and all mostly because parents try to protect kids from life rather than show it to them.

But thats a bit OT... like the rest of it. For now its all very hypothetical, we might as well save the debate for whenever this somewhat luxuary FA cup semi/final issue comes along...

Well, ok. I kind of agree with you, to be fair, but it's maybe not for everyone. Now off to research Rosseauan relaxation.

Some of the comments on here are laughable. Do people honestly think Brighton Palace is the only rivalry in world football?

There have been plenty of relatively trouble free mat at Wembley between the likes of Arsenal/Chelsea Liverpool/Man U England/Scotland etc not to mention the two Sheffield clubs even met there.

The prospect of Brighton v Palace might get Sussex Police excited but I doubt it’d even register with the Met.

Both clubs have relatively small hooligan elements so with 25,000 of each present they’d be diluted almost unnoticeable.

It might even be a bit of a laugh pre match.

No doubt they’ll be tales of the odd punch up and plenty of “bellendary” but I witnessed plenty of that v Notts County in 91. I’m confident those that want to avoid that type of thing will have no additional issues.

Me? I don’t want to play them though, the fear of defeat gives me sleepless nights. We all deep down know how it’ll end!

I’d be out that ground on 90 mins like Billy Feckin Whizz, straight on a train back home 🤣

Actually, I'm not sure I fancy Palace going through. They are a different gravy right now. I've long said they are not out of European contention either. They have the Southampton buffet coming up, us at home and a game in hand. If the away match there doesn't go well they could be on our shoulder.
