Had a meeting in London today - spent 7.5 hours travelling door to door and back again. Could have gone to New York in that time

Take the time above and beyond the actual journey time National Rail quote, then work out where you'd end up, walking, cycling, driving, and flying.

Door-to-door Coldean to somewhere in Manhattan, including reaching LHR during rush hour and getting through US immigration in 7.5 hours? Nah.

One thing I'd wish they did was get rid of first class in southern trains, who the hell buys first class tickets on them?

They get used by former BR employees with lifelong union negotiated rail passes.
