He surely was the worst club manager there though? He got Middlesbrough to a UEFA cup final (which they were hammered in), spending more money that anybody outside the top 4 i can think of. Curbishley, Allardyce and Oneill have all done briliant jobs at the clubs they have managed

Give Mclaren time for christ sake.He has done fine so far and with Venables along side him i think we will be ok

Hiddink. Not convinced about McClaren but very pleased Venables is on board, so I'm fairly optimistic. Just got to drop Downing.

McLaren should have always been given it.

He already knows the players and seems to have threr respect and i think he can bring out the true class our team keeps threaterning!

Good coach though.

I thin k that should be was a good coach not sure that he is still. It remains to be seen. He has been doing TV work watching matches but it is not he same but if it is are we going to go and get Mullery back as manager.

Not long til supporters are running on to the pitch and throwing their tickets at him.

Whats changed since SGE other than the childish muscle flexing over Mr Beckham, who probably regarded him as a bit of a lightweight in his experience at Man Utd and with England?

No,job should have gone to somebody more inspirational, more fiery.More Neil Warnocky.

And of course, the only Middlesbro bloke who should have managed England never got the job because he didn't suit the FA image.Yes,Brian Clough.

O'Neill is probably the best manager, but being the tough disciplinarian I'm not sure if it would've worked out with the spoilt and pampered England players.

I don't think it makes a big difference to be honest. We'll always be a second tier football nation until we change the way the game is played and structured in this country.

At the end of the day, the likes of Sam Allardyce would NOT be considered national manager material for a proper football nation like Italy, Brazil or Germany.

I suppose I'd have to say Hiddink was the best choice - he'd have got the best out of our players.
