Realistically, it's surely got to be one of these three people:

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

or

Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

or

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregory_XVIII

We all know, from previous job applications made, how much companies value experience in a candidate and surely this one is no different? All of the blokes above have some experience of being a Pope, and they all presumably believe in God, so surely they have to be among the front runners? ???

I have voted TAXMAN on the basis that it would be quite funny to think of him famously going to Rome to visit himself.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a young up and coming pope but with an older more experienced Director of Papal behind the scenes to handle sainthoods and the like.

The current Pope has been a champion of the holy trinity of the 4-2-2 but in today's modern secular society the new man needs to inject a bit of pragmatism.

I'd have 4 priests at the back, a cardinal up front but pack the midfield with nuns.

Cardinal Marc Ouellet of Canada.

If he doesn't get the gig I think we'll have an African Pope.

Well, Ouellet would carry on the tradition of evil that John Paul 2nd and Benedict have followed. "Abortion is unacceptable even in cases of rape" he states, that really doesn't augur well.
How wonderful if the next Pope preached that contraception was not only permissible, but actually commendable; I won't hold my breath.
