Mercury is the best frontman of all-time. Sinatra has to be the best singer though...

The first two maybe, but the singer of Ah Ha, just slipped in as cream puff surely???

I am as blind to his failings as Fran Hagerty is to Ben Roberts' kicking.

Karen Carpenter

Funny, I woke up thinking about Karen Carpenter this morning - it dawned on me that she posessed a true melancholy 'blue' vocal approach. Although I'd be unlikely to ever buy her music, I agree she was a prominent vocal talent.

Having said that though, in that department Tracy Thorn kicks EVERYONE into touch!
Sarah McClaughlin (sp?) has to get an honourable mention, she's pretty bloody good - and try Big Mama Thornton out for excellent blues music!
Minnie Ripperton for r 'n b soul.

Annie Haslam had the purest, strongest, best controlled tone I've heard from the ladies.

I just played Scott Walker's first solo LP, and it always worthwhile. No-one as yet came close to Roy Orbison, as Elvis was aware enough to admit.

Dave Vanian is outstanding, from punk - a genre that never gets any dues for musicianship.

How can any of us lads forget Ken Dodd's prominent delivery that thrust it's way up the charts;
"A Penis, a penis, the greatest thing that I possess.
I thank the lord that I've been blessed with more than my share of a penis"

lyrical genius ! :clap:
